These aren't set in stone yet but its my rough idea for my coop. Not even sure if the picture will show but :) an opinions or helpful information would be very much appreciated!! :D

I haven't figured out the dimensions exactly but I hope for at least 20 chickens... And the waterer would be underneath I think... :)

So, using a "poop board/tray" system? That is what we did and I *love* it - we have hanging waterer/feeder mounted under there - love not having wasted space underneath the roosts AND the easy cleaning of a poop board.

I'd move the waterer for sure. If you have them roosting over the waterer they are going to poop all over it. You'll never keep it clean and that's just asking for disease problems.

Square footage is usually 4 ft. per bird (depending on breed), so you'd need 80 sq. ft of coop space. An 8 ft. x 10 ft. footprint would work based on the picture you drew.

And maybe make your door swing outward, or make sure it's sits on a frame so that it is elevated a little. Otherwise you're going to be pushing in against whatever litter or bedding you use every time you open the door.

Anyway - hope that's helpful!

Just curious, but what's at the bottom of the drawing? I can't read the word, but it looks like it starts with an "s"?

Oohh, okay, I get it now.

I don't have a poop board, so I was picturing the waterer hanging directly from the perches - yuck! But if it's hanging underneath a poop board it'll be covered. Nice!

Exactly what I have read that works great!!! Easy for clean up too! :p also thank you so much with helping with the dimensions XP IM NEWW to the whole building thing :p

Oh and it's a shelf kind of thing for bird that need to be kept away from the other or broody hens. Not sure if I'll include that yet :p

I was thinking about this and realized I might have been confusing earlier. I was just looking at the chicken part of your drawing, which is why I said an 8 x 10 footprint. But the actual building would have to be larger to include the other areas. Sorry, that's my fault!

Also, for 8 x 10 the MAX birds would be 20 or so (depending on breed). Once you get going you might find yourself wanting to expand (like me!). I don't know if you're using an existing building or starting from scratch, but if possible go bigger than you think you'll need. The chickens will appreciate the extra space and it will let you expand your flock down the road if you want.

Hope that helps!

Thank you! And I got what you meant about the chicken coop part :p and ya it's going to be a new building :)
