The ones I'll be selling are a porcelain d'Uccle, an EE, and a self blue d'Uccle. The EE and SB are still only 4 weeks, so a little young. The porcelains are 9 weeks. I'm trying to watch and see who is doing best with the rest of the flock so I can decide which to sell. They're both incredible with me right now.I would drive two hours for a good male.

Well, I already have 8 chickens now. I knew I wanted to get more in the spring and when I thought about it, I realized if I got them now they would be laying by spring! OopsNo idea, but this made me laugh: "Because of that I have found myself with 8 new chicks." It sure seems to happen that way!
How do you guys like your Orpingtons? They are GREAT layers for me, but some of the LOUDEST chickens I’ve ever had. EVER. Same thing with the speckled Sussex. Great layer. Loud gal. I give them everything they want. What more could they need? I always thought white leghorns were chatty and loud until I added those two breedsYeah I'm thinking spring as well for any additional bantams. I have males to rehome, so I'm going to do that and then settle my Orpingtons. Then I'll look into additions.
I'm actually getting mine next week, so I'm not sure yet. I didn't know they were loud, lol. My loudest currently is my Golden Sebright. She goes into a panic if her flock gets 6 inches from her, and the shriillness of that alarm shriek is nuts! How do you guys like your Orpingtons? My 7 month old Buff Orpington is louder than the roosters crowing. I have 4 more that haven't started laying yet.How do you guys like your Orpingtons? Totally get that - I had six ordered from a hatchery in late May, then saw chicks at Rural King in April and impulsively bought four. Four weeks later, I went back and picked up four more chicks - all before the ones from McMurray ever arrived. I meant to end up with about 8 chickens and now I have 13.Well, I already have 8 chickens now.
