Ordered online. Now what?

You chicks will hatch on Wednesday the 9th.
They will be at your post office ready to be picked up as soon as they open.
Do not wait for a call.
Just go to your post office as soon as they open and your chicks will be there.

So I just ordered some chicks from Ideal. They are shipping on the 9th. We are about 5 hrs from them. But this is my first time ever having chicks shipped. What now? Should I call the post office and give them a heads up? I'm thinking I should probably ask their protocol on this but not sure of any questions I should ask. Nervous and excited.
Awesome! What did you order? Everyone already gave you great advice!

@Iluveggers I got some california whites (don't have any that lay white eggs yet so wanting to add that in) olive eggers, golden laced wyandottes, and blue cuckoo marans.
That’s a nice variety! Will make a beautiful basket, also. I would love to see pics of the blue cuckoos and OEs when you get them! I debated between Ideal & McM, so I’ll prob try Ideal next year and both of those breeds are on my list! Good luck!

I love my California White!

Chipotle is active, curious, alert, and independent. She flies like a helicopter and is the only bird I have who is smart enough to get back into the pen when she wants to instead of pacing the fence complaining that she's on the wrong side like the others.

She laid big white eggs -- almost always 65g -- missing only a couple days a month for a year before she went into molt.
