Ordered online. Now what?

So I just ordered some chicks from Ideal. They are shipping on the 9th. We are about 5 hrs from them. But this is my first time ever having chicks shipped. What now? Should I call the post office and give them a heads up? I'm thinking I should probably ask their protocol on this but not sure of any questions I should ask. Nervous and excited.
I call the post office the week before arrival and give them my name and number and tell them I have chicks coming. They call me first thing in the morning after the truck comes and I pick them up. I'm excited for ya!

@Auntiejessi3
I went and talked with them today. Gave her my name and number and she said She will call when they get them off of the trucks around 3am.
:woot :wootLast year I think my PO called at 5am, my DH gave me the stink eye as I jumped out of bed saying their here their here :lau

@saysfaa When it first happened it was explained to me that it will just depend on the pigment on that egg. Green and blue are similar colors so if a certain egg gets more of a pigment than the next then it can result in blue or green. I believe that's what it was as this was a few years ago.

I'm so excited to do this!! Our chicks don't come for another three weeks so I'm waiting until the week before to show up and discuss. First time shipping chicks and I'm hopefully bring rural/ag area means they will be better about the chick orders than they are at answering their phone.

Just got the chicks. Al of them were screaming and alive. The box had a good amount of straw and, with just my 9, it was pretty warm inside. I just snapped this interesting really quick and will get better ones one the sun comes up. Right now they're under the heat pad. They were screaming for a bit but settled down once they warmed up.

Well,I ditched the heat plate. I put them all under it when we got home and they stayed put before I left. I went out when the sun came up and 1 was dead in the other end of the brooder and another was dying ontop of the heat plate. I gather warmed up and she seems to be doing better now. I buried the little baby that died. I now have a heat lamp in there and they're all earing, drinking, and running around. I've never lost a chick and am so sad now. I should have just used the heat lamp from the beginning.
