Ordering chicks from Hoover’s Hatchery

Everyone's experiences are anecdotal, but here's mine:

I placed an order with Hoover's hatchery January 2018. This is the first time I have used them. I ordered Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, French Copper Marans and two Mille Fleur bantams. When I originally ordered, I called and talked to a person about the order to make sure everything was correct (instead of ordering online). I originally had a shipment date of mid-February. They called and told me they would have to postpone the shipment to second week of March. OK - I understand. I sell chicks as well, and production and hatches don't always meet expectations.
Today, the woman called and told me they would not be able to ship the two bantams I ordered. When I asked why, she said they don't send day-old bantam chicks with standard size chicks. OK, I get that - there's a trample risk and that makes sense. However, I asked her why the woman who took my order and money oh-so-happily didn't find it necessary to share this policy with me way back in January when I would have had a chance to order them from someone else (you can't find them now). She said she really didn't know and that she should have. I agreed. She then told me I could order 18 more bantams to make their minimum. I laughed and hung up. We'll see what my opinion is once I receive my remaining order next week, but so far, I'm not real impressed.

That would be incredibly frustrating.
It is very strange that she didn't tell you when you were ordering over the phone as these minimums are clearly posted and differentiated in the information available in their online ordering section. I only know that because originally I had hoped to order both standard and bantam birds and came to the same realization ......that I would not be able to order the small number of bantams I was hoping for as part of the larger order.

Very possible Eggsighted. Is there anyone that has experience with Hoover’s Hatchery?
We just order from Hoovers for the first time ever. We placed our order for Feb 27th hatch date. We ordered 14 Sapphire gems and 3 hatchery choice rare breeds. We received our chicks happy and healthy on March 1st. All the chicks survived the trip and we haven't lost any. In fact they have been very vigorous.

I have to say though that the shipping was a nightmare. The tracker never updated and showed that they were in Minnesota still on the 1st. My BF ended up having to go to our local post office on the 1st to figure out what was going on. They ended up driving 1.5hrs away to pick up and bring the chicks to us. This I believe was more of the post offices fault though then Hoover's.
