Ha ha you are a turkey enabler. I think I had better wait until next year for turkeys though.
I am not certain that we will have any edible type to sell this year, as we are shooting for about 50 in the freezer for personal use. The broilers were an experiment that has not been terribly successful.
tally on Free Rangers from J&M -
1-barely breathing in the shipping box and died shortly thereafter
3-all three greys died of coccidia; I used unmedicated feed, and they came down with it just before their third week. I was unprepared, since I had not had any coccidia problems before. I am going to try "deep bedding" next year.
3-died later, during coccidia treatment
6-blankety blanking owls. I thought at first it was hawks, but unless I get their door shut right at dusk, I find headless bodies. I think roosting on the door frame is too appealing, and the owls snatch them right off.
The coccidia really slowed their growth down, so I will have to wait until next year to get a fair idea of how they will do. I am going to keep the best rooster and a few hens, and see how the F2 (is that correct?) comes out.
What a cool forum this is! I apologize if this is getting too off topic.
Edit (I should mention that the Buffs have never been housed near the new chicks - the only contact they have had is with the hens that sat and raised them)
