Omg, I'm so sorry about your son's chicken baby. It's devastating when they lose their beloved bird. My son was crushed after the hawk attack. The only cure is more chickens. I hope you find a replacement soon.

Did I miss that? I was looking at it on my danged phone!

I'm so sorry to hear that! I dread something like that happening.. obviously it can happen even to super-experienced chicken moms.

I hope you find a chicken that he really, really likes - soon.

Thanks, yeah - she hadn't grown at all since I got her at the swap...

So sorry Cloverleaf. I'm very sad for your son.

Just got done tube feeding the 4 month old "Seizure Chick" since my daughter wanted me to know how sad she will be if Seizure Chick goes up to Heaven tonight. And my splay leg buttercup is so stressed (and partially other chick trampled) that though separated and re-splinted hoping she doesn't pass on also

How can a farm girl like me who can eat her own ducks and chickens (raised for that purpose) can't bear to not try helping the pets and pathetic. Someone

me. This is depressing.
Only good note -checked East Indie eggs day 5 and most look like they are growing fine (figured all pain should come in one day).

I'll wait until this weekend Zoo to hear updates, but unless a miracle occurs I'm going to be short a house chicken and have a tearful daughter so will then have to have serama(s). Do the roosters fight like normal if you don't have hens?? (Meaning if I got/hatched and kept two and they were both roosters - can it stay that way or am I doomed to get two hens as will then be attatched??)

Have a good night all.

I am so sorry to hear about your special chicks having problems

I know how you feel and how your daughter feels. I lost all but one this season that I took in and it just hurts. It's also a lot of work...I know.

I do have a good update for you

Almost all of the 30 eggs I set are growing! I have one rooster that only has one egg growing and another with no eggs, but the other 3 have done a really nice job

So, you have two options: my chicks will be hatching around the week of the 20th. You are welcome to some of those if you want OR I can start collecting eggs for you from the known viable roosters and get them to you next week (this week is just too busy with graduation - I won't even be fully functioning mentally again till next Monday or Tuesday I think lol). Let me know what you'd like to do

As far as two roosters, I really don't know. I would assume if you do not have any hens at all, then they would be fine, but I can't guarantee that. I have two roosters and one hen together, but one is my splayed leg rooster so he doesn't pose a threat. He also grew up with these two so it seems to work in this situation.

And again, I'm really sorry
