Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

I have a Bearded Golden Laced Polish cockerel for sale. He is not quite 6 months... probably closer to 4 - 5 months. Will need to look at the calendar to see for sure. Would only ask $15 for him.
We are located out near Battle Ground, WA.

Hi! How much are you selling them for? I would love to get
Napoleon and Josephine. They are adorable. I may even be interested in 2 pairs. My mother wants Sermas and this will be our firsts. We used to have some very tiny Banty's years ago and love the little guys.

They are $10 for a pair

Yes, I'm going to ask that everyone make sure their area is clean before they leave the swap. I will be able to do a final sweeping of the floor before I turn in the keys, but it would be nice if everyone could keep their area clean. We might have to be more creative in how we house our chickens since we won't be on grass - feed bags under wire cages, etc etc.

The fee for renting the facility is $315 + $250 deposit (refundable if it's clean). That is more than we've ever paid before for a swap but I really feel it is totally worth it. We will have tables and chairs available and a private room for all our potluck items and I already have 2 possibly 3 local businesses coming and donating raffle items. I'd like to get more so maybe that is where local people could help out? It's going to be a great swap guys, I can just feel it!

That would probably work for the BYC stuff but I'm not sure I'd feel right about that for the business donations. After all, they will have tables set up there. We could go back to the donation bucket like we've had in the past? I'm not expecting to get all of the money back, but a little would ease my husband's dismay over all this LOL

At the PNPA shows in Stevenson that I go to, they sell raffle tickets 5 for $1. All the items are donated, and a sticker with a number is put on each one. Each item has a bag with a corresponding number taped around the edge of the table. People write their names on the tickets, and drop them in the bag for whatever item(s) they are interested in. Nobody seems to have a problem doing it that way at the show, of course the raffle money goes back to the club for future shows, BUT if we put up a sign or something that said the raffle money goes toward the facility rental...??? I really doubt we'll make $300+ off the raffle, so what to do with "extra" money shouldn't be an issue.....

Just an idea, you decide what you're comfortable with.

If you'd like to do it this way, it's kind of a lot of set up, BUT I would be willing to be in charge of the raffle....

I think the best thing for me to do is stay out of the money getting part, lol since I'm the one going to be getting the money? It would make me feel strange to say "give me money to cover this" LOL I'm just that way....so whatever you guys would like to do to contribute to the rental is fine with me. I'll let everyone else figure it out

I'm pretty sure the two businesses coming wouldn't mind since I do a lot of business with them and they are very grateful to get some exposure in the community.

Things just got crazy this last month and I couldn't make it last weekend to the swap

but I'm going to try and make this one in Corvallis!

I will have the following:

By October:
7 month old Black Australorps hens
7 month old Amberlinks hens
7 month old Golden Comets hens

These are now all available but they are only about 5 weeks old.

WANT:
To be able to go!

Ok, for the raffle.....I need opinions guys...do we want to sell raffle tickets, 5/$1, or make it a free raffle, where everyone that comes just gets one ticket?? I'm leaning toward selling the raffle tickets because in the past, when we've done the donation can (for a MUCH smaller rental fee, btw) we had to kind of put the squeeze on people to put money in, and just barely covered the fee...JMO

I think I will plan on running a name tag / information / raffle table this time around, since I won't have as much to sell...

Laura, I will plan on coming down early and helping you set everything up. What if we have a "clean up" committee too??
