Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

I'm so excited about this swap!

I encourage you to do the raffle tickets for a dollar, it's not a lot of money, and when they aren't a lot of money you can often get more interest in them. Putting tickets in cans for a chance to win each item is a great idea - we've done that before at some major fundraisers with lots of success. Can you say at this point which businesses are wanting to be there? I'd like to make some calls, but I don't want to duplicate.

I would be happy to contribute a gift basket for the raffle.

A donation bucket would be most appropriate as well - and I understand you wanting to have someone else deal with the money "receiving" that isn't doing the money "paying". Again, you'll get better results that way.

All of my kids show chickens in a 4H group here (we actually meet at the fairgrounds each month), so I'm thinking of asking if the group would be willing to do something for this swap. Not sure what yet, or if they even can, but it would be nice to have them get involved. I'll drag my kids for sure no matter what our 4H group leader says

Would you be opposed to having information about 4H available at the swap? I might get a better response for volunteer help that way (I'm thinking clean up crew since this group already knows how to set up and clean up that particular building!)

I was hoping you'd want to help with the swap

Yes, I can say...Nutcakes Bakery (the cupcakes at my table were from here - my friend Jennifer owns it) and Del's (really great guys that love me and the feeling is mutual). I was kind of thinking they should be the only feed store...what do you think? You'd have to know the dynamics of the area, but the two feed stores compete against each other and well, the feeling is not all the warm and fuzzy between them lol. Other than that, anyone that wants to be involved would be awesome! 4H - YES! That would be perfect! I think any community involvement we can get is good. It's good for them, it's good for us and it's good for the promotion of backyard chickens in these areas.

I just wanted to say thank you to all those who are donating items to the raffle. It is so appreciated! Thank you! I think Jeanine (Cloverleaf) is going to be handling that part of the swap so I'll let her gather that information. Maybe we can all just continue to post or PM her with what you will be donating so she can keep track of it? Will that work? I will be donating two cheesecakes, probably a Blue Ribbon and something else in an autumn theme. Id' say I'd donate a rooster but that can would be empty!

I'm going to donate several roosters. If you don't put a dollar in each can, you get the roosters!

Speaking of which, I've got Barred Rocks and RIR if anyone needs a boy! They are Texans, so they will probably crow with a drawl.

In my opinion, I'd stick with the one feed store (not that I'm biased or anything

). Last thing we need is some uncomfortable feelings in the middle of our "warm and fuzzy" gathering. Although, I'd be more than willing to take a donation from the "other' feed store.

Nutcakes yay! We are quite familiar with their doughnuts

I'm going to contact the 4H people then, and see what kind of help we can get from them.

Has anyone made a facebook event for this swap? I did one for the summer swap - as many of my facebook friends are local and I can invite many of my local friends, then they invite their local friends, etc etc etc. I would "attend" this event

And thank you for getting involved and helping! It is sooooo appreciated!

And good luck with those roosters. I had to give away 2 cheesecakes to get the last one of mine adopted on Saturday
