And Silkie, my daughter was highly impressed when I told her about your Saturday "event" with all the roosters lol. She said "is that legal?"

Shhh. LOL

I actually borrowed a co-workers garage in south town. He laughed and made the offer when I told him what was going on. LOL

I like the idea a selling raffle tickets. 5/$1 or something like it is a great idea. I feel most people would toss back a buck or two in the hope of "winning" something, before they would toss a few bucks in a donation jar. My opinion. Thought I would put in my 2 cents.

I'm sure they would too. The donation jar in the past has always been just for the members of the thread who attend. Maybe it should be in the back room with the pot luck items?

I think the jar out front wouldn't be so bad. I remember when we had the jar last time and I was toting it around somewhere, an older gentleman with a cane, probably in his late 70's or older, put some cash into the jar and told me he was so happy to see young people getting together and having such fun. I don't think he was part of byc, and out of the entire crowd, we all were certainly young compared to that nice gentleman.

I think it is nice when there is a door prize. Everybody from backyard chickens gets a free ticket and there is a drawing for the door prize (one item!). That's just the thank you for coming. (cheese cake, hint hint?)

But, I am all in favor of having a raffle to raise money to help pay for the rental fee.

Zoomummzy, you should not feel modest about collect $ for the rental. After all, we all agreed to rent the fairgrounds and we all should chip in to pay for it and you are simply acting as the "bank".

I pledge to earmark one duck to go toward rental, and when that one sells, the money goes straight into the pot for rent.

If the event doesn't close too late, I will help clean up. I am a very talented floor sweeper. But I don't like driving over the moutains after dark, so suspect I will leave before it is all over. I pledge to leave my own area spotless and I will also pick up any trash laying around all day long, as soon as I see it.

If there is electricity, is anyone bring a huge coffee pot?
