That is great news Paula!
All good here too...lost a hen yesterday but she was really old (I got her at one of the first swaps I attended - a rescue of sorts lol). She lived a good life here
All the babies are great and growing like weeds! I have 14 total left, 3 of them very tiny
I checked on the last two eggs today, saw no movement so I opened them. Fully developed, just never pipped. I hate that
I am setting eggs this weekend from my new girls! Fawn and Dusty are laying so I'm taking advantage of it
I'm throwing a few of Zephyr's in too since none of his made it to hatch. I'm kind of floating on air this week already...the 3 people who have received my shipped eggs all report 100% growth in them! Very wonderful news for me...and them, lol.
Yeah!!
I want to have a good hatch!
I've been going over and re-reading everything on hatching in every chicken book I own!! (and between me & hubby) we own a lot of books! (hubby's not necessarily are chicken related
)
So next time, with the next eggs ............
Well, I learned to hatch from the best (in my opinion) - Silkiechicken. I was "thinking" and reading too much about things so I just followed her advice and relaxed lol. Most of the time she doesn't even monitor humidity - just keeps water in the unit. This time, I followed air sac development which worked great. I was able to tell if my humidity (without really monitoring it down to the percent) was correct or not and adjust if I had to with more or less surface water. Unless you have really expensive lab equipment (like she does LOL) it really is impossible to get it accurate, it's all just a guess - in my opinion again.
