I weighed them tonight and they weigh 4.4 oz (Remington) and 3.8 oz (Mimi). This is in comparison to their other hatch mates, most of whom are checking in about 5+ oz at 7 weeks.

Should we have a 'cockerel day'? I have some 16 yo boys who will help. Unfortunately those birds start crowing while they're still so small...maybe nuggest sized.

My silkied pen is laying so I'm putting those eggs in plus I still have the 7 from last month's hatch lol. These are just the last pair from the first hatch.

On that rooster note...

My daughter packs these guys around but she has two and they started fighting over their hens. She is ok with me getting rid of the one. Ugh, this one and my LF frizzle cochin rooster I let her talk me into keeping. So happy she'll "let" me get rid of one

(I am now VERY clear on NO MORE roos but can't eat the pets, ugh). DD has been removed from any future roo/drake decisions, lol.

There is that 'Take a chicken to a Pet Store Day' coming up. Everyone should just take all the roos to Petsmart/Petco, hangout by the door and just start handing them out. You should be able to get rid of a few that way,........until they call the cops!

The ones I have are between 2 and 4' tall. They are about a year and a half old and just starting to branch out now that they live in the greenhouse. The pots they are in are probably 5 gallon pots, so still managable, but some room to grow. I grew them from pits myself so they are the standard grocery store fare. I think, after looking at some research, that they will have to be protected from hard frosts, but could otherwise survive our climate.
I am planning on keeping 2 of the 5 so if you want one I will count them all as claimed.
As for price... I have no idea! I have lots of time into them, but no money investment... I was planning on bartering with cheesecake from Zoomumzy, since I must try some cheesecake anyway. (I dunno how much cheesecake my trees are worth, but I think we could both walk away happy from that deal.) I could do some research and make up a price based on that, or you could make me an offer, either way.
I'm not looking to make money at the swap. My only (and perhaps very ambitious) goal is to offset the gas prices to come all the way up there.

Are you expecting that kept warm enough they will produce fruit? I was planning on keeping them on a patio or greenhouse myself...Do you know if you need two to produce fruit? I was thinking about ordering some online (as I never see them around here)...I would like one...but am not sure what they are worth either...will think on it

Are they grafted avocados? I'm not sure you can count on fruit from avocados grown from pits. They are pretty trees, though.

They are going to have to be potted plants in Oregon. They are very frost sensitive. Santa Barbara is about as far north as I've seen avocados growing in the ground. Although, I've heard of people growing bananas in Portland, so maybe they will grow with some frost protection.
