Yep, blond me! I wasn't even thinking about the traffic from I-5 when I replied to you Silkie....yes, the 22nd or the 29th. My vote would be the 22nd.
 
I will be there!

Here's my best guess of what I can bring to trade:
4-5 month old Aloha 'culls' I got from Alohachickens (I will bring all the pullets and some cockerals)
3-4 month old Speckled Sussex and Buff Orpington cockerals (I will bring the prettiest and nicest I am not keeping, the rest are going to freezer camp)
3-4 month old EE pullets
Herb and veggie starts for chicken gardens (focusing on reducing internal parasites)
Maybe a 'chicken salad bar' planter or two (If people are interested I will make sure I get around to building them)
Fresh, potted, or dried herbs for teas or cooking
Garden produce (HUGE variety of tomatoes, lots of other things too!)
Grapes and maybe other fruit
Chicken art (feather masks etc.)
2-3' tall avocado trees (only if someone tells me they want them)

Let me know if you want plants as soon as you can so I have time to get them growing happily before the swap. I don't plan to bring many plants unless someone requests them. There's just too many to bring on a 4 hour road trip with chickens in the back!

Want list (if I am allowed to bring things home... I am not allowed white birds, bantams, or anything that won't be 'useful')
Heritage Turkey poults
More feathers! (especially from birds I don't have)
California quail
Hen/pullets who lay dark brown or spotted eggs
a decent incubator (not that I expect anyone to part with one!)
frizzled pullet or hen (prefurably something more interesting than a cochin)
Maybe ducklings would be fun...

I will update as I know more for sure and even add pictures when I get them...

I would suggest a Hovabator, they are really easy to use and the temp is automatic so you don't need to mess with it. I would also say stay away from the Little Giant. They are inexpensive but I've always had trouble keeping the temps steady.

Went ahead and made the executive decision....I was getting nervous we were going to lose the two dates we could choose from....

Saturday, October 22 at GUERBER HALL - Benton County Fairgrounds in Corvallis. We are officially on the Fairgrounds calender online

so now I just have to take in the paperwork and a deposit. I did have to send an email to OSU to make sure that date is ok with them regarding the testing, so my fingers are crossed it is.

The rental gives us the place all day - as early as anyone wants to get there (I will have the keys the night before) and we have to be out by midnight - everything cleaned like it was when we took possession of it or the deposit is forfeited. We will most likely get space on the board out front too...we'll have to see how that goes, but she thinks we will

As requested, the Serama pairs I have available right now. They will most likely be Class Bs but since they are only 8 weeks old now, it will be a few months till you will know for sure. The girls have pet quality leg color (willowy) but the boys (except for Duncan) have a more yellow tint even though it shows up pinkish in the lighting I have.

My very first post on here ever...

I'm so excited that the fall swap is already shaping up!

I'm brand new to Backyard Chickens and was able to go (briefly) to the Canby swap last weekend. My three new babies from there are doing great! I came home with a partridge bantam cochin frizzle cockerel and two non-frizzled pullets of the same breed and color. Their addition brings my flock up to 11. I was in a huge hurry (other commitments) and don't recall who I bought them from.... the far south and far north vendors respectively. It will be fun to meet other chicken people on here and at shows and I look forward to remembering names and getting to know people.

The chicken fanatic bug bit hard and fast and I'm a big-time softie for bantam cochin frizzles. I'll be looking for them at the show but before then would also love to meet some local Willamette Valley breeders who have them. If anybody would have pullets/hens that they are looking to sell I'd love to talk/email. I'm satiated for now with my new babies from last weekend but I'd always have a coop open for the right bird(s)!
