Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

Newtochick- what is the Serama in the first pic? She is adorable! That is my favorite! Have you (or has anyone else) got any of those babies for sale around the swap time? I would like to reserve some and I can pay in advance or trade or whatever.

Does anyone have Japanese Bantams?!

Quote:
I'm not sure how often newtochick gets on the forum so I'll answer till she does lol...it is just a nice Serama, the penciling is pretty. And I will have Serama babies for sale at the swap. I had a hatch this weekend, I'm setting more eggs this weekend and I will be setting more once a month until the swap time. Just PM me for information!

Not a big update, but just trying to keep up on it.... A little more information about the day of the swap - I will be getting the keys the night before so will most likely go over and open everything up around 8-9am for those who want to show up early or are staying at the campgrounds. I will pick up some donuts/muffins from Nutcakes (one of our business vendors/supporters) and juice for the morning and I think someone said they were bringing coffee? More info as we get closer...

Currently:

Want-Fig tree from Oregon Blues
Concorde Grapes from ?? I will take lots and lots if available. I can juice every year I can find a source for the grapes.

Bringing-Honey, Creamed and Regular
Bees wax candles, tapers only
Olive Oil base handmade soap
Maybe various garden goodies, depending on what grows this year
smile.png

Raspberry and Marionberry Vinegars (dependent on my berry harvest, looking great so far!)
Vanilla (only if Silkie chicken does not bring any............)

Tam'ra - did you want us to bring feathers? I've got some skins in the freezer. Some had a few feathers taken off for a 4H group project but we should have more "pelts" by then... if you want, I will bring them. I think there's a Dominique cockerel, a black Australorp cock and if memory serves me a black Americauna hen.

OregonJen - do you have some photos of your blue, splash and porcelain Americaunas? Also, prices? You can PM if you wish or post here. Might take birds or eggs, depending on price.

pistol123 - how much are you wanting for the incubator? How many eggs does it hold?

cbreezerentalsl - Put me down for a turkey!! And how much are they?

[[[[[........Do you have any pictures and/or varietal names?.....]]]]]

I'll have to get into them and make a note of which ones I have extras of. I was very careful to get the hardiest ones and only ones where several people have recommended them as top flavor. I know I have a couple of UC Davis numbered varieties, and I did check to see if they were the Conandria varieties, and they are not.. Give me a couple of days and and I will get the variety names and the description.

Pots are 3 gallon food grade buckets. I intend to eat the figs, I want mine grown in food grade containers.

Zanna, done. I'd love to trade a tree for honey.

Had a near miss tonight. Got home late, walked in the house and my preschooler said "MOM, I thought you said the chickies always had to have a light" WHAT!!
ep.gif
Turns out the light burned out in my little ones brooder while I was at work.
barnie.gif
Two of the serama's were cold and lethargic, freaked out, sugar/vitamin water, fresh light and 2 of 3 bouncing, more sugar/vitamin water - poof - three bouncy babies. Now just watching them like a hawk to see if any lasting stress effects. These darn chickies, get attatched too soon. They are already coming up to the front to let my daughter stroke them - love the little stinkers.
love.gif
Zoomum. just FYI, 3 hours later and they all still look good. Eating, drinking, conversing and poo just fine. It was the cute little white one, so cold/weak couldn't stand - stupid light bulb, ugh.

Quote:
YES!
I can't seem to have too many. I only have 3 pelts right now (barred rock, blue laced red wyandotte, and partridge cochin) and would love some more colors. Soon I will be in a mask-making frenzy in prep for the renaissance faire and I will need to restock.
If you had seen my boxes of feathers you would know this isn't quite true. It would take quite a lot of masks (hundreds?) to deplete my feathers, but what can I say? Collecting feathers is cheaper than collecting CHICKENS in every color, so I will have to make due.

If anyone else has some they would like to part with I am open to trades
