Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

Congrats on the fig and on the goosies... Finally, the warm weather is making things bloom! I had three hops plants that I thought completely dead suddenly pop up from the ground! Of course, the weeds are also very vigorous.

I love to hear the little baby crowing! My neighbor was laughing with me about it yesterday!

So sweet, and so persistent!

That's SO funny! I had the same thing happen. I brought three pots to our new place in January just because we needed to move them and I thought the rhizomes were dead for sure, but they're growing like crazy. Those hops are hardy little buggers!

I'm so sorry to hear it, Laura... You are so attentive and such a good Mummzy, too... but as you say, it happens...

Thank you Cathy

It doesn't take away the loss but I have 14 little growing Serama babies in the brooder - all active and healthy. They are cute little buggers

All tri color except one which is going to be black with white lacing or penciling I think and I can already spot at least 3 roosters. Next month I will be able to pair them up and start finding them new homes

On the list of what I am bringing to the swap, I said I would bring Aloha culls. Since I represent the entire western branch of the Aloha project (Arizona being the world headquarters!) I figured many of you won't know what they are. So I decided to share pics so ya'll can see them! The pics below are the whole flock. I will be keeping 2 boys and many of the girls. I have 24 in all, but many of them, as well as some Buff orps and Speckled Sussex that I got to breed with them, will be at the swap!
Rather that try to paraphrase the goals and origins of the Aloha project, I decided links would be better.

This one has pics of the original Swedish flower hens that inspired the project:

If anyone is interested in the project, let me know and I might be persuaded to part with some of the better girls too so we can have more local people working on the project. Even if no one says they want to help out, I am considering bringing the culls in sets (2-4 pullets with a cockeral) to see if I can spread the spotted chickens

and give some of my runner-up roos a chance. What do you guys think- will I be able to unload them in sets? And what would one ask for a set?

Anyone interested in one of the roos, claim him now. I will only be taking a few good ones to the swap, the others, sadly, will end up in freezer camp.

Waaahhhhh, I lost 2 of my beloved blue egg layers to a respiratory disease. I have culled the source bird, cleaned and disaffected the coop, and isolated all exposed birds. Does anyone have blue egg layers, chicks, or hatching eggs available?

Talk to Laurel. She has some blue/lav split chicks from me, and some more lavender Ameraucana eggs from me that she just put in the bator today.

Sorry about your babies!!

I can't get into a new project right now.....but I love your birds. I just wanted to say that the rooster in the first pic is GORGEOUS! Don't cull him or freezer camp him! He is a great looking guy! Hopefully some people will pick up this project from you....I really like the idea behind it, and the birds are very pretty.
