I don't even attempt it anymore. I actually made a big to-do about it and threw it in the garbage. Zephyr ran over, pecked the garbage can and puffed up. I think he was pleased LOL

Voltron and Anthea's first baby hatched today!!!!!

Congrats!!!!!

rachaelc. you've almost got them to the point of laying. If you do any baking, you might change your mind about keeping them after you've baked with duck eggs.

See I was going to keep a small flock of ducks specifically for that! The albumen in the duck eggs makes the most amazing parisian macaroons EVER! There's something about those whites. The yolk might be a tiny different but the whites are truly amazing! Makes me wonder what an Emu or Ostrich egg might be like......

OK, now you must share your recipe for Parisian macaroons. It's not nice to mention them and leave me drooling. I'll have the duck eggs to make them pretty soon.

I am now waiting for duck eggs to cook with - YUM but likely not until at least August, darn.

Talking to someone tomorrow more but let her know about the swap - sounds like someone who'd love it (if not already on here, lol).

And for my "family" moment - I just finished reading "Where the Wild Things Are" to 3 serama's and my DD per DD request - she thought the chickens needed read too as well. They did seem to enjoy it.

Look! My first serama is a hatching! Today is the first day of lockdown! Hope this little guy is allright!
You can see the little beak!
