Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

Just throwing this out there - - My hubby has volunteered to supply extra tables. I'd like priority to be given for people that truly don't have a table to bring, or don't have space in their vehicle to pack one along.
They are 5 or 6 foot tables. Nothin' pretty, but highly functional! Our only request is that you clean them before you leave so he would be willing to do this again in the future
big_smile.png

Please PM me if you think you'd like to reserve a table from me, and I'll make sure to set one aside for you to use while you're there. I'd like to get some idea of the need before he goes to too much trouble.

Ooh! I love the darker one, (the cross). She is very pretty. So what makes her a cross? (Crossed with what?) Does she have a name?
thumbsup.gif

Thanks,

She is gold laced polish crossed with tolbunt polish. She is 100% polish, just two different color patterns mixed together. She is one of the first stages of a polish breeding project I am working on. She currently is called Bella. I think she is very beautiful with the contrast between her dark base color and the rich reddish lacing. She is laced pattern, and since she is only 4 months old she should get a bit more red as she matures.

I'm sending these pics to one of my 4Hers that might be interested in him....I'll keep you posted...what do you want for him?

That would be great. Thanks. I don't really know what I want for him....except a good home. If a child wants him he will be free. Otherwise maybe $10 or so?

Jewelry - some with chickens!
kaleidoscope image tshirts (other things by order)
"Poetry and Chickens" chapbook

daylily and flag iris bulbs to trade (if I get them dug up)

WANT
honey (quart) and raspberry vinegar from Zanna
cheesecake (not sure which yet)
grapes (if you bring some) from OregonBlues
herb starts from Tam'ra

Since I couldn't get to my fitness class this morning due to OSU traffic (how I could forget classes start today is beyond me since Emma starts college today!), I am going to update the list. Remember that this is the last week to preorder cheesecakes. After October 1 I really cannot take anymore orders and it will just be whatever extras I can get done to bring the to swap - not as many as last spring I'm sorry to say - I don't have the time. No preorders on the sampler platters because I'm not really sure I will be able to pull them off yet at all.

I'm going to make a have/want list real quick to make it easy... or really just a want list since I don't have anything..

Want:
Dark brahma pullet
Pumpkin marble cheesecake from ZooMummzy
big_smile.png

Honey from Zanna

Sorry to be asking here, but I feel I 'know' most of you guys and trust all your knowledge and experiences.
bow.gif

I have that one hen that has been limping and from what info I can find, it sounds like something called bumblefoot.
hit.gif
The only information I can find on treatments is a surgery like procedure. (Cutting the area, draining, getting a 'plug' out). Right now, there is no open spot/sore. Just a swollen foot. So I don't think topical medicine is going to work against any 'inside' infections. She is getting around ok. Runs, with a limp or a 'flying-like' movement, to get around. Eating and drinking is all ok. Is there any other treatment that doesn't involve 'cutting' on her? I don't think I can do that.
sickbyc.gif
(still haven't heard about any chicken 'vets' here in Vancouver)
hu.gif
Or if you can direct me to somewhere or someone that knows, I would appreciate it. She may act ok, but I would think, she must be uncomfortable. I am going to be leaving next week to visit family in Illinois, so I feel I need to do something now. (and quick) Feeding is about all my hubby is willing to do. Health care (or very little amounts) may be asking way to much.
hide.gif
So if I can get something started, I am not going to be gone very long (about a week), so I can complete any treatments when I return. (Or at least make her comfortable now and start formal treatments when I return.) From what I have read, bumblefoot won't go away on it's own. (Does that sound correct?)
hu.gif

Thanks,
bow.gif

Ok, hopefully I can remember to cover everything that needs to be covered in the updates from now on! If I have forgotten something, please feel free to let me know!

Quilt Block swap information on page 73

Flyer: Please download, copy and distribute everywhere and anywhere!

https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B2...g3ODctYjNiOTQ1ZTAzYjVm&hl=en&authkey=CKHQ5eEK

Raffle items: Please make sure that you PM Cloverleaf with your donated item information.
Raffle list:

Small hutch plus 1 gal waterer and 3lb feeder from Del's
Specially designed Cake for our swap from Nutcakes Bakery
Earrings & necklace from auntpa-k
Jam & painted rooster from CathyM
Gift basket (honey, vanilla, soap, etc) from zanna
Feather mask from Tam'ra of Rainbow Vortex
Pet goodie basket from CrittersNPets
2 cheesecakes from ZooMummzy
2 lbs of Chantrelle mushrooms or possibly Chantrelle pesto from peacedove
Homemade jewelry pouch by Rosa (outside vendor)

Tables: Please bring your own tables (6'- 8' max please) but I think we will have enough chairs. The rental provides 10 tables that we are using for the welcome table, the raffle items and the businesses will each get one. If we have some leftover, they will be available but I cannot reserve any at this time for individuals. There are a couple people bringing extra tables, please PM them directly if you are in need of one (don't have one, can't haul it to the swap etc.) - Alexis and Tam'ra of Rainbow Vortex. We also get 75 chairs so I think that should be enough, but feel free to bring your own if you'd rather.
Building information: Here is some information and photos of the building off the fairgrounds website. It will be important that we keep all our swap items behind, on or under our tables in order to keep the walk areas clear. I don't think we will be packed in like sardines so I'm sure there will be wiggle room for this. Some people bring a lot, some people only a few things - it will all balance out. I am hoping for a nice fall day so we can leave the doors open and maybe set up at least the vendors bringing bigger items up just outside of them (breaking the rules, but I think we'll be ok).

* Small kitchen w/ counters, sink, & microwave
* Commerical grade ceiling fans
* Broom finished concrete floor
* Large restrooms
* Heating
* Large doors for loading & unloading

Dimensions: 60' x 72'
Ceiling Height: 16'
Square Feet: 4,320

guerber_nwcorner.jpg

guerber_kitchen.jpg

Potluck: It looks like we are NOT going to have a potluck at this event. However, please feel free to bring anything you want to fix or store in the kitchen area. We have it so we might as well use it. Nutcakes will be there all day, probably starting in the morning while we are setting up, selling donuts, muffins, cookies and other goodies. They may possibly be bringing some lunch items too. I will try and confirm this soon.
Set up/Clean up: Since I only live 5 minutes from the fairgrounds, I will be there to unlock the doors around 8am that morning. Due to the traffic I think we will be getting at this event, I think it would be good to be completely set up before 11am. The swaps usually drag on a little past 4pm, but I think we can start cleaning up as soon as the crowds wind down. The entire building will need to be swept and everything put back into place before I can turn the keys in. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated!
Banner: Alexis has been working on getting the BYC banner for our event. No confirmation yet, but we are hopeful!
