Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

Could we go over the table situation again? Do we need to bring tables/chairs or are they provided? If provided, how big are the tables. My Mother in Law may come and bring a bunch of crochet items, dish scrubbers, etc. and we would share a table if they are big enough.

Cloverleaf -- if she comes, she will donate a crochet kitchen set of towels, potholders, scrubbers. I will firm that up in the next week and let you know for sure.

At this point I am bringing vanilla, raspberry and marionberry vinegars, creamed and liquid honey in my containers or yours (please PM me and let me know if you want to reserve some for sure), olive oil based soaps (mostly honey oatmeal but some other varieties as well), beeswax tapers, handknit socks, and most likely some garden goodies, and dried fruits, I need to see how the crazy next few weeks turn out.........

I may also have some olive egger hatching eggs if there is some interest. I have my Project Lav. Ameraucana roo (he is Lav but has lots of cream coloured leakage) in with my 6 Welsummer girls right now and will be collecting eggs for my incubator starting next week. If someone would like some, I will leave them in the breeding pen till after the swap, if not, they will get moved back out to general population when I am done collecting for myself.

Counting the days......................

There will be a lot of birds for sale at the show...there always are. Not too many LF though it seems like. The earlier you get there the better choices you will have...

So, do you have to buy and imediatly remove birds, or can you look around and then pick them up later that day?

Hmmm....I'm not sure...this will be my first time using the sale cages. There is someone posted at the entrance to the sale area to make sure sales are completed before people remove birds...I THINK you can buy them and then take them out later, as long as you have your receipt...

Tables: everyone needs to bring their own tables and if possible, please keep them as close to 6 ft (can have a side table (L shaped thingy) if needed. I think someone is bringing extras - I'll have to look at the list. We only have a few tables provided with the rental and we are going to need them for the raffle item set up. The raffles and businesses will be near the front main entrance, we will set up around the outside of the perimeter and then start rows, back to back, in the middle section. I'm reserving the spaces near the two big doors for the people who have signed up to bring chicken tractors and other oversized items for now. If they do not show, we can move into those spaces too. The main thing is we need to stay within the building. The rental agreement says that specifically. We cannot spill out the building or use other parts of the fairgrounds. I'm trying to collect all this information so I can include it in the updates from now on so thank you for bringing it up and reminding me to include this too!

And sorry, I haven't got to that yet. I just lost a 3rd Serama chick

Even though I'm fine with whatever others want to do, I have to say x2. I will have samples of my cheesecake at the table but only for people looking to buy one, not just general snacking. Nutcakes has done so much for us that I don't want to take business away from them. They even have people calling the bakery now asking about the swap
lol.png
I told them to direct the calls to me lol.

If people want to organize a small thing on their own, for their enjoyment in the kitchen, I'm cool with that. We have the kitchen area, might as well use it - we paid for it

Personally, lol I will be eating donuts all day just to keep my sugar high going.

Zanna - those OE chicks sound like they'll be GORGEOUS!!!

I don't know what is going on...they are all from the same set of eggs which had horrible air sacs when I got them but still developed and hatched. Could that be it? The one of mine and the other 2 I hatched from another friend are just fine - running around like wild things already.

Hmm...could be...air sac quality does play a role in the development of the chicks, and I guess ANY development problems could cause post-hatch mortality issues....
