Oregon folks (Washington too) - Chicken Swap in Salem on June 13!

I posted a message last week after using mapquest - there are 4 parks along I-5 in Salem - I also posted a link to the map to see if anyone knew anything about the parks - one is right off Rt 22 just west of I-5 and it looks to be pretty large - I just don't know anything about any of them since I don't live in Salem, probably any of them would be fine and all are within a few blocks of an exit from I-5.

here is the link to the mapquest page - if you go in closer then you can scroll up and down the freeway and see the parks...

I would love to BBQ but I will not have the time to stay and chat for long, DH is driving me, must be back on the road shortly after arriving.

The last time he went with me to pick up some chickens he told me that the next time it would be alone because he sat in the truck and waited for 2 hours.

In all seriousness we do really need to pick a spot. I'm game for not to far off the freeway and I am game for a park but it must be close and relatively easy to find.

That Cascades Gateway Park sounds pretty good, it's right off I-5. Same exit, just go west to Turner Road, it's right at the corner of Turner Road and Highway 22 (Mission St. SE). Address is 2100 Turner Road SE. There's a Lowe's nearby, and a Sportsman's Warehouse. You might have to drag HIM out of Salem!

I suggest we try this one:
Cascades Gateway Park
101.20 acres
2444 Turner Road SE - Mission SE to Turner Road. 1/4 mile to park.

Cascades Gateway is a large urban park that enjoys high use from residents of the entire area, particularly during the summer months. The Beaver Grove Shelter, Bluegill and Arrowhead picnicking areas host many family gatherings, reunions and group picnics. Other uses of the park include boating and fishing in Walter Wirth Lake and Mill Stream

this is just off rt 22 (Mission) take exit 253 go west on 22/mission to Turner - turn left on Turner 1/4 mile to park, the description above is from the salem parks site listing.

Update: Out of bantam cochin and black copper maran (yes, lemurchaser, I've got yours!)
