Oregon folks (Washington too) - Chicken Swap in Salem on June 13!

I vote for the park, the description on the salem parks website leads me to believe that there is a lot of room and many options for type of space - the main problem will be to pick a place that we can all find wonce we get there - I will go check and see if there is a detailed map of the park at the site and get back to you. I might have to try and stop by on my way home to WA! Of course going north I'll be chickenless and the ability to show depends on lab work. Darn mice, they make me have to go to lab 7 days a week!

well - no detailed maps on-line but they list picnic areas and a bbq - so we could head to the picnic area and watch for the chicken flag... and bring picnic stuff if so inclined (maybe potluck if we won't have time to cook anything there...someone could bring a bucket of KFC - LOL)

thanks Bil, that would be great - just get off on 22 - go west just a bit to that Turner Rd - left on that to th park entrance - it would be great if we had a particular spot in the park to head to - so scope away and let us know what you find.

The park looks like a great place!

So go off on Hwy 22 and go West. Get in the left hand lane and turn left at the 2nd light, Turner Road. Take this past Lowes & WalMart. You'll turn left right at the end of WalMart's parking lot on to Cascade Gateway Park rd. As you pull in to the park there is a large lake on the right with a lot of parking but no shade (and I think shade will be important since some people are going to leave their chickens in their cars). So stay on the paved road and it will curve around to the left and go over the one-lane bridge to the back side of the park. As you come down from the bridge I think the best area would be over around all the way to the right as the road splits. It is the reserved area, but I would guess the Pavillion is saved and not the parking or grass area. There is a lot of grass back here and lots of trees.

I say this would be the place to go!
