Oregon Spring Poultry Swap April 23, 2011 in Canby!!!

I would totally love to see an armadillo up close and personal! I don't think any animal is too strange to have as a pet plus anyone who loves animals is ok in my book

Fortunately, I do all the building, no need for the hubby to help/complain. lol.

I just bought a couple commercial greenhouses which will double as a barn. I plan to have rabbit runs in there and the armadillos can have a run too. I will have to excavate a trench to sink mesh in the dirt to keep burrowing rabbits and armadillos in. At least they can be on grass and have lots of space and the greenhouse is always warm and dry.

Yeah they can be pesky to a gardener. My mom used to get furious because they'd tear up her garden and her hybridization projects but I always thought they were cool. Way less offensive than raccoons and opossums! They look like little dinosaurs and they are really friendly. I'll put a line out and see if we can get em up here when she comes up in July!

I have an armadillo story...We were hiking and I was standing by a tree. Out of the brush comes an armadillo heading straight for me. He sauntered right up to me as I stood still to watch him. He got to my shoes, sniffed me and decided he better get out of there. Very cute! Wonder if my feet really smelled that bad!?

Of course then I'd probably want some and I'm pretty sure my husband would not build me armadillo cages too

Oh and does anyone have any recommendations on where to get cages? I currently only have a few cat carriers and cardboard boxes
