Oregon Spring Poultry Swap April 23, 2011 in Canby!!!

Wanna know which bird trio I almost bought today? I do not know the man's name but he had some lovely home built brooder boxes etc., and a trio of the most magnificent Silver Wyandottes I'd ever seen....I almost bought them and by the time I went back in the afternoon once I figured out I had space, the birds appeared to not be there anymore though his display of brooder boxes were. I have no idea who he was but those SLW were uber eye candy!

I was bad and got my kids a bunny...I am getting waaaaaay too many pets! It was so beautiful though so I could not resist! My hubby was not thrilled, but he is a pretty good guy and will get over it!

Hey all!!! Had a great time today!! It was great seeing friends, and meeting new ones. Tallyho and DancingHen, I'm glad to hear you're happy with your birds.
I think we say the same thing after every swap, wish there was more time to just chat...so, when's the slumber party?

I'm happy to see that I once again I managed to elude the camera!

Laura, Anthea is so beautiful, I love her!! The showgirl is her cage-mate for now. It was hilarious, she was afraid of the sg at first,.but now they are all cuddled up.

For those who liked the slw trio, that was Larry Giberson, he's not on byc, I invited him. For anyone who wants to contact him for brooders, crates or birds, I can put you in touch with him. BTW, I have the big brooder, it is AWESOME!!!

Thanks everyone for a great day, I hope it isn't fall before I see you all again.

Got home about 45 minutes ago, took and shower and am settled in. Late night!!

So happy we sold almost everything! I know Brandon and Rhonda both had a rabbit each to bring back, I was so surprised we didn't have people drooling over that last chocolate buck Brandon had - I am thinking of getting him, I have to talk my dear husband into it! He's such a nice little buck and I know Brandon's lines are superb... The price is incredible for that quality... Argh... Am I going to be showing rabbits now?!?!

ANYWAY... Back to more logical thinking! I was so happy to find a home for the October Dominique cockerel - such a nice little cockerel and I was really glad to see him go to a home where he can have some chicks!

We sold all our hatching eggs, all our chicks and meat cockerels, the Blue Orpington (another nice bird!)... It gets kind of hard to sell these nice cockerels because on one hand - we want to keep them all! But sadly we can only winter over a certain number of hens because all the hens go in the one big egg layer coop - so we don't want to have seven breeding cockerels when we know in the spring we'll only have enough hens for three, for instance.... Some day I'll have unlimited funds and land and will have a rooster farm

Think of all the beautiful feathers!!!

Thank you everyone, we had a BLAST, looking forward to the next one and thinking about organizing one for here in Central Oregon (probably Bend, to attract more locals as well)...
