Oregon Spring Poultry Swap April 23, 2011 in Canby!!!

Canby is nice and the place Cloverleaf mentioned sounds nice too

Since it's a fairgrounds and she is a member of the 4H there, it could work out perfectly. I think we should wait and see what info she comes back with for the fairgrounds and then go from there.

I emailed the fair manager today with both of our dates, and two areas in the fairgrounds that I like...I'll let you all know when I know something...

Unless I have a bunch of birds pre-sold I probably can't make the trip. I'm in my junior year of nursing school and with gas and other costs, it might be show or go to a swap. Showing would take precedent, as I learn so much and get outside opinions on my birds which really helps me refine my stock.

So, I guess,.. we shall see.

Can't wait! So many things are starting to look up in life now, certainly not least among which being -- I'm hoping to move out of where I'm currently living with the awful dogs that have no manners and the people who stress me out and the 30-minute drive to class, into a chicken-friendly apartment with my boyfriend and his roommate~
Plus, I have a new chicken swap thread to subscribe to! yay~

Ok, to update everyone....the fairgrounds aren't going to be an option...they want anywhere from $250 to $500 just to let us use a parking lot...plus we'd have to carry insurance and there's a cleaning deposit, etc....yikes!

I told her thanks, but no thanks. I currently have a voicemail in to the head of the parks dept. to see if we can use the park that I like, or if he has a suggestion for a better area for what we want. I'll keep you all posted.....

silkiechicken -
Want: Extra roo's for meat or spent hens.

Another watermelon goat milk soap!

Have:

Plant Starts if all goes well:
Tomato: Roma, sweetie, gold nugget, early girl, Siberia. Gold Nugget is my personal favorite for bucket growing, sweetie is better for soil as it is not as crack resistant.

Herbs: Basil, chive, nasturtium

Other: Morning glory-turns out my blue with yellow throat of last year were not as labeled! They really are darker blue with white throats.

Seeds: Nasturtium and Morning glory if you chose to direct sow

tallyho

we have some chickens that might need to go to new homes or 'camps' by April. I have hens who have been laying well for years but I'm starting to see egg quality problems in the last month or so. They're at the end of the egg laying career. I think I have 2 roos in my new batch of babies (cain't have roos). One is a silkie (from SQ stock, but don't know about him) and the other is a barnyard mix hatched by my broody 'lorp. (The aquisition of the silkies and hatching are long stories!) It's only 2 weeks old, but I see legs happening already, compared to the other one. I would dispatch them to 'camp' myself if I knew how to do it. I only hope I can keep the roos quiet until April! If I take care of these 4, I'm good for getting a few more pullets. Hmmm, now, lets see.......

"mille fleur Belgian d'Uccles

LOL oh how true

I already have something (thanks to you!!! lol) The only chicken I am lacking and been wanting is a mille fleur. My lead at the swap fell through so I'm still "in need" lol of a couple. If you have any pullets you'd be willing to part with by then, I'd love 2.

"Cheesecakes $15 each (and worth every cent per Cloverleaf!)"
