Oregon Spring Poultry Swap April 23, 2011 in Canby!!!

We were looking for one that is a little more local because there is one in south Washington/northern Oregon already. At least most of the meatings are up there. I know they have a show in the spring and fall in Stevenson WA. The reason for no shows in Oregon is the cost. All birds have to be tested in Oregon and that cost $. I don't think they need to be tested in WA. Also the cost of a judge and the sight, and then having the cages to do shows.

Hello! Your event sounds great. I am a poultry farmer that works with Pistils Nursery in Portland, OR and would love to promote your event to our visitors. Kindly let me know when things are more firmed up......

Gentle Regards,

I am a member of the Pacific Northwest Poultry Association. We do rotate the location of our monthly meetings as we have members in N. California and Southern Oregon. One of our most active members/officers is based in Roseburg......

Though I live in Oregon, I don't find it a hardship to go to Stevenson. We have half a dozen participants who come down from the Northern Okanagan in British Columbia, slogging down across the border driving more than 10+ hours!

Our club is a great group of kind people who are very experienced, and knowledgable poultry keepers. Instead of reinventing the wheel, I would recommend joining us. We have equipment and cages, and if you have your heart set on an Oregon based meet, could probably help support that.

I already am a member, and was at the show this weekend....it just seems like PNPA is pretty set on having "2 shows a year" per the web site, but I can talk to Bob and see what he thinks. (PS - I'm the one that sold you the pair of Lavender bantam EEs last year)

Details are pretty firm already, listed in the first post. I will be posting directions, etc, as we get closer to swap time though.

BTW, LOVED seeing your Tolblunts at the show!

Thanks, you wonderful gal, you! Tallulah & Floyd (the pair I got from you) are doing great and have produced a bevy of beautiful offspring this year! Please let me know when your new chicks come in. I was just talking about how nice your birds are to someone who happened into the nursery today and was talking about their love for Ameraucanas......

I can't speak for Bob, but he seems pretty open minded with anything that helps further the club. It might just need some extra nudges and some committed members to take it on.
