Just one more hatching happening here at the Castle...my broody Silkie Fiona is sitting on 5 viable eggs, due sometime the week of the 23rd I think. I always lose track with broodies since I don't have to do anything lol.

Speaking of babies, I've added 3 more to my photo set - all pullets, all POL or laying - another Silke/D'Uccle mix and 2 pure D'Uccles from Tsagirl's very nice D'Uccle trio she had - the roo won at the fair I think and I'm pretty sure he came originally from Oregonjen? I'm having to be a responsible grown-up (ohhh say it isn't so!!! lol) and make room in the house for my Seramas. None of the Silkie mixes or D'Uccles have been outside ever. They have all lived with me since babies in a roomy cage downstairs with the splash Ameraucana playswithfowl is getting.

Yep, the d'Uccle roo is VERY nice, he lives at my house now! LOL And the two girls from that trio live with one of my 4H boys who lost his only d'Uccle pullet to a weasel a few months ago. The girls have moved up to permanent residence in their garage to make SURE it doesn't happen again!! He loves them!! The roo is the daddy of the Fav/d'Uccle cross chicks I'm bringing to the swap.

Okay, attention people:

A couple people here say they have Polish. What colors? - I am in great need of Laced Polish!! Silver or Gold Laced.

I am adding to my list of have's:

1 Black Ameraucana cock
1 Blue Ameraucana cock
1 Black Ameraucana hen
3 Blue Ameraucana hens (not for showing or purebred breeding)

I am adding to my list of wants:

Heirloom Tomatoes (seeds or plants) - Preferably Paul Robeson, Black Krim, Sara Black, or Giraffe varieties

Heirloom Melons (seeds or plants) - Preferably Bidwell Casaba, Petit Gris de Rennes, Ein Dor, or Prescott Fond Blanc varieties.

Is anyone bringing Wheaten or Blue Wheaten Marans chicks? I just want 2.

I'm also looking to get 2 Ameraucana. The color I want will depend on the marans. I'm thinking blue if I can get the above marans or wheaten if I can't.

The latest have/want list update is on page 89. I know there are Marans on it, but I haven't looked to see what varieties....

Anyone else suffer from the long power outtage yesterday/this morning?? Power at Sweet Home went out about 2:45pm Sunday, and came back on again 3:45 this morning... usually not a hassle for me, but I'd bought 3 day-old SLWs Friday and was in a panic about keeping them warm!! Moved them alongside the woodstove, put a hot water bottle in (wrapped in a tshirt), and heated up slabs of rock (I'm a rockhound) that I also kept rotating through the brooder... I stayed up the whole time, trying to be sure they weren't too hot or cold... and they seem very perky and happy this morning - which is more than can be said for me!

Hope no one else had brooder failure...

IF My Marans start laying in time, yes. I do have Blue Wheaten and Wheaten Marans, but they've been molting lately, so there's no promise I'll have chicks in time.
