Oregon Spring Poultry Swap April 23, 2011 in Canby!!!

Can anyone possibly help me out with gender on this one? I'm hoping it's a pullet but thinking it might be roo....

Ok, first of all STOP with all these gorgeous bird pictures. Seriously, I love them but eeeek. I just finished telling DH I absolutely will never have turkeys - he was not laughing when I called him over to see the pretty pictures!

Here is a so so image of the bird nest necklaces I sometimes make and even better my new additions - DUCKLINGS!!! They were so awesome - called me today to let me know I could have my 3 if I took my second choice or wait until May (like who could wait). So I said sure, I'll pick up those three AND get the others in May. Surprise, when I got there my first choice had hatched 3 extra, like I was going to say no, right? So, DH is now looking at 6 when I said we were only getting 3 for fun (and maybe more later).

Of any interest in necklaces I will bring them, otherwise I will just come to fill the car (aurgh)

They are very nice and I say bring them. Oregonjen did quite well with her jewelry in the fall so I'm sure there will be interest! And congrats on the ducklings! I got my duckling fix at the feed store today. I love them and love to watch them paddling around in the water. I thought about it for a milli second but then left lol. I think I've just about pushed my luck with all these Seramas in the house....and more on the way thanks to newtochick

Now to break it to Steve he needs to build more cages.....

Well, these are not so gorgeous but they are very special and it's been a very humbling night taking care of them. There is nothing like dropping baby parrot formula a little bit of a time into the beak of a baby chirping for more. I don't know if the cross beak (and one eyed and possibly blind) will make it but she has calmed me tonight and made me realize this is what is important, not that I didn't get cages cleaned today or enough cheesecakes made. The other little EE will be getting a boot tonight to fix her toes.

The owners of Brawley Farms are all for having the fall swap here if it is decided this would be the best place for everyone. We can use the indoor arena, outdoor arena or farm hay fields. There are plenty of parking options and easy access. If we use the barn there are restrooms, electricity, etc. They just need to look into the farm insurance to make sure it will cover something like this but that should not be a problem, it is not like we will be riding horses or anything, well, maybe?!!!

Zoomummzy, the babies are darling, bless you for taking such care of them. Someone on another thread today made booties out of the little round bandaids (I think that is what I read) to help straighten a chicks toes, maybe those would be too large for the banties? They looked like they worked really well.

Rosanna,
Is this the Brawley Farm as in Judy and son & daughter Bob & Debbie? If so, I've heard their place is really nice! And the Brawleys are great people. I grew up in the hunter/jumper world - this brings back memories.

Actually, no, that is what I use. These are standard size chicks so they work great. I am just out, I realized, so I will need to get some tomorrow.

And that is totally awesome about using the farm! I cannot thank you enough!! What does everyone else think???? Oh, and if they like cheesecakes, tell them I will give them two of their choice at the swap for their kindness

Yes it is! I work for Judy and have lived here on the farm for 25 years now teaching/riding/showing hunters/jumpers and dressage horsies

That is so wonderful of you to take those chickens in and take care of them.

I appreciate your willingness to take in my little one also. You are the best!!! I am game for either place, Jefferson is closer to me, but not by so much that I mind either way. I think I will leave this up to you all and just show up when the decision is made!

Wow - small world!!! I can't think of the Brawleys without thinking about one of the greatest ponies that ever graced the shows......Candy! Both Bob(bie) and Debbie, and multiple other kids started out on that awesome pony.

My sister went on to become a trainer too. Her name is Buppy. Do you know her by any chance? She retired a few years ago....

OK - to get back to poultry!! Does anyone have any blue or splash Marans pullets that don't have feathered legs? I may be interested in 1 or 2 pullets in the 4-6 week old range (at the time of the swap).
