That is so wonderful of you to take those chickens in and take care of them.

I appreciate your willingness to take in my little one also. You are the best!!! I am game for either place, Jefferson is closer to me, but not by so much that I mind either way. I think I will leave this up to you all and just show up when the decision is made!

I'm happy to take your little one. You can rest assured she will have a great home for the rest of her life. I make sure my special chickens have a set up that works for them and gives them the most freedom to be a chicken while their individual needs are met. I have some that like to live alone but I always try to pair them up first.

Wow - small world!!! I can't think of the Brawleys without thinking about one of the greatest ponies that ever graced the shows......Candy! Both Bob(bie) and Debbie, and multiple other kids started out on that awesome pony.

My sister went on to become a trainer too. Her name is Buppy. Do you know her by any chance? She retired a few years ago....

OK - to get back to poultry!! Does anyone have any blue or splash Marans pullets that don't have feathered legs? I may be interested in 1 or 2 pullets in the 4-6 week old range (at the time of the swap).

Ugh, I did have one but she got rehomed because no one was speaking up and wanting her. She was a blue with clean legs and in that age range

Rats!!! I guess I missed that before in all these looong lists of 'haves'!!

OK - also might be interested in a BR pullet in the same age range - preferably non-hatchery stock. ZooMum - I did see you have younger ones from he feedstore, but I think those are a bit young. But can you tell me more about them 'just in case'?

Yes, the greatest pony in the whole world, I had many fortunate years to teach on her, the stories I could tell you!!! She passed away while I was here. Just laid down one day and would not get up, she just knew she was done, I think she was almost 40........We were all in tears and she was buried here on the farm.

Nice to meet you Kathleen

I just got them today and they are from a hatchery since they are feed store chicks. All of my BRs are from the feed store and I've been happy with them. They are great layers, feather out nicely and are super friendly birds. I don't really know much about breeder or sq for BRs so I can't answer to those things. And yes, they are 3 days old now, so 3 weeks by the swap, give or take?

Nice to meet you too! I would love to hear your stories some day!! I've been out of that world for 35 years, but I still miss it.
Candy was an incredible pony, and I'm really glad to hear that she was on 'her' farm in the end. It must have left an awfully big hole in everyone's hearts when she passed away. How fitting that she was buried there.

Wow, I feel so 'chatty' tonight! LOL
I'm not looking for show quality BR's, and don't know enough about it all to recognize breeder quality either, but I guess I want a good representative of the breed. What you describe yours as sounds just fine for me, but I'm not sure about the age.
I have a group of blue rocks in the brooder now that are about 2 weeks older than your new little ones, and I would want to add the BR's to those, so I was hoping for closer to the same age. What are your thoughts on that age spread? Mine will be 5 weeks old then. Once they are done with quarantine, would that age difference not be significant?

All this is something I'm still deciding on. I'm not even 100% sure yet if I want to add any BR's at all......so it's tentative at this point.

Do you have any pics of your adult BR hens that you have gotten from the feed store?

You are such a special person to take care of these poor little ones. Whatever happens at least they will be comfortable.
