Oregon Spring Poultry Swap May 5, 2012 in Canby!!!

My plan is to do only pre orders as private sales and use the swap as a delivery place. This way everything is already bought and paid for and I'm just delivering them to the swap and not selling to the general public.

This way it's not "for the swap" just being delivered there.

Who knows, though.
That is how I'm going to do it for the Fall Swap here. Everything will be preordered. I won't have any extras for the day like I did last year. I would have done that for the Spring one but it's much easier for me to do it for this one down here where the house is close.

Soooo....is anyone welcome to come to the swap? Is there a fee to set up as a vendor? I just found this thread and I'm (literally) vibrating with excitement!!!!

I'm going to blame the pregnancy hormones; but, it's really because I'm just that excited! I've never been to a swap before and it's far enough away that I'll be recovered from delivery and baby will be old enough to take out with me. Ahhh!!!!

No fees, you just have to be there early to set up if you want to sell.

Glad you found us!!!!

I read the law and it looks like it isn't going to cover baked goods. Possibly if you grow your own wheat and process your own wheat, you could make a case in court, if you didn't mind spending the hundreds of thousands of dollars on lawyers just to make a point.

Not many of us are growing raisins, so those are out, which probably doesn't matter if you can't sell baked goods.

The home kitchen doesn't work for me for the baked goods; can't sell cookies or crackers or use specialty flours. I can't find the requirements for a commercial kitchen.

We do get to now use the 1,000 bird exemption to sell our own dressed birds, but federal law applies and their requirements for the actual slaughter and processing area are a bit much for me to meet. 1,000 chickens a year wouldn't pay for the processing facility.

It's really great news for the people who sell jams and pickles, though. A step in the right direction. So I'm happy about it.

Do you still have the bags John? I have a friend that makes totes, and I would take the livestock and game bird bags to her...Thanks!

Just a thought, if any of you have multiple sizes of leg bands and colors, I bet you could make some money off of many of us (like me

) by repackaging multi packs of different sizes and colors, or.... charge us so much a band. I just don't want 1000 bands for 5 or 10 dollars. I'd personally rather buy 50 of 5 different colors for that price (but that's me, a small time person who wants just a few bands of many colors, lol.) Just a thought (and a wish for leg bands). So far zip ties are working but, that's my 2 cents

I want to see a video of you walking your chickens...

I wanted to share my new Chicken Harness Slide show with all of you. I finally got some good pictures and had some time to put them together.

Here's the Link: http://kaseyspoultry.webs.com/apps/photos/album?albumid=12939420 Simply click View as Slideshow to get the full informative show.

The harnesses are $15.00 each and are available now or at the swap. They also work for Ducks, Rabbits, and small dogs under 10lbs.

Also, I have been considering making Cheesecakes for the swap. If I do is there any interest in them? They are not as fancy, but are still delicious and home made.
