Oregon Summer Poultry Swap, Redmond, June 18th

Woohoo Katy!!

That would be fantastic, sent you a PM

Excellent. Fireman's Lake Park is a very nice setting. The plans sound wonderful. It's going to be great fun.

OK, I would like to have a booth buddy. I've got an Ezee-Up canopy that hasn't been out of the barn for 5 years. There's no telling what we will find when it gets opened up. Nothing worse than dust, I hope.

Not required, but it would be a bonus if the booth buddy is also going to be at the Fall Swap to share "guard duty". And hey, there is no reason we have to limit the pact to just 2 people. 3 of us could share the booth.

Also, for the Potluck, is there going to be anyone there who eats gluten-free? Should I bake something luscious that is gluten-free?

For the potluck, everybody brings their own plate and silver ware?

I plan to leave my dogs at home, specifically so I won't upset anyone's birds.

I will pick up some paper plates and plastic ware, but feel free to bring whatever you like. I'm sure folks would love some gluten-free. I know Rhonda's husband eats gluten free, and I wouldn't mind either!

Hi all,

I would like to come to this summer swap. But right now the best I can do is say I'll try.

I live all the way over here in Vancouver, Wa., but it sounds like fun.

The one in Canby was a blast. I did go to that one. I noticed that someone is bringing poults. Is any one bringing ducks? Smaller sized ones? I have a few eggs in a bator, but there are Pekin. I am looking for something smaller to keep in backyard. As a pet. What I would really like is a call, but I have had hard time finding those.

Is it because they are so small? Anyway, I will keep your Swap on my Calendar, and try to make an appearance.

Good luck,

I'm supposed to be receiving Swedish ducklings from 2 different breeders. So far, no ducklings have arrived. My check got cashed, so I know they received my order. So right now, I can't commit to taking ducklings. Just maybe.

Minimum order thing, I had to order more than I want for myself.

Sorry Ed I don't know anyone with SL Polish, but will keep my ears open.

Adding this for a gal off the email list...

Becky

WANT
- ducklings, prefer Khaki Campbells or blue Swedish

I am working on making a stencil to paint on a chair or maybe just a t-shirt... I think I'll get like a large and an xlarge or even xxlarge.. will see what I can find... if I go with the tshirt, so that way if anything it's a bit too big - better too big and comfy than too small and uncomfy! Anyway, I was thinking it would be a nice little prize for our "best presentation" award. I know a lot of folks put on a good show and I think they need some recognition!

I figured everyone could put one vote (on a notepad) in with their raffle #, and when we draw up the raffle prizes we'll also tally the votes and give out the prize for the competition?

I think I've got the rooster part down (made it out of the old SOP for a Dominique rooster - beautiful profile) and I've got some lettering I was going to play with... either that or I'll just make some custom letters.

I was thinking of ...

"I won this at the cock swap!"
.. rooster picture here ..
"2011 Oregon Summer Poultry Swap"

I could leave out the cock swap part. Sorry, the first swap I went to was with my brother in law, and he refused to call it anything but a cock swap. Now my mind is eternally polluted, and it gives me a bit of a chuckle every time I talk about these swaps... He told me to put on the shirts on the front "I swapped a cock..." then on the back "at the '11 Oregon Summer Poultry Swap"... but I thought that was just a bit too racy.

I would love to make shirts and all that with the same stencils, but I doubt I will, it takes too much out of me and I'm just not that good at it to do more than one or two things!

Picked up paper plates, some plastic ware, the raffle tickets, and a few other little things for the swap. I think I will make (just with markers) on plain paper some numbers for the booths for everyone to pin up, so that everyone can vote, and so that if we kind of sign in we know where people are at!!! Hey, organization, what a great idea!!
