Oregon Summer Poultry Swap, Redmond, June 18th

Directions??
I tried to MapQuest the place, and all they came up with is Fireman's Pond - is that it? It's on Lake St, off Veteran's Way... I just want to make sure I don't get lost - after two hours driving through nowhere, I'll need to use the restrooms!
lol.png

I will also be bringing tshirts with kaleidoscope images ironed on - $12/tshirt, sizes Med-Xlg (I have one 2X sweatshirt for $15)... most have flower images, but here are four with chicken images. Maybe not so easy to see, but I wanted to show you the range. I only have one of each (I can't invest in a huge inventory, and I'm not sure what will sell), so holler if one catches your eye. In this photo, the pink is Large, the others are Medium:

REGULATIONS

PLEASE BRING ONLY HEALTHY ANIMALS! No one wants to see any animal in poor condition. If you have such an animal at home, take it to the vet. *some animals this time of year are going into molt, and may still be a bit rough looking by the swap, that’s fine*

All animals must be properly contained. That includes dogs on leashes and birds properly held or caged. We want to be welcome back to the Redmond parks next year, so please be prepared to pack out what you pack in, including cleaning up any larger amounts of litter material that falls out of the cages as well as you can. No need to bring a vacuum, but I hope we can all keep the park looking neat and pretty for the next folks that come along.

I also wanted to say, please be respectful with your dogs. The last swap I went to there was a woman walking by with a small dog (leashed, thankfully) that was barking and growling at a cockerel I had in a crate. She saw no harm in this and was laughing about how the dog wanted to ‘play’, but it was very distressing for the young bird. I love my chickens as much as I love my puppies, and I don’t want anyone or anything to be unnecessarily stressed!

Let’s all just have a great day filled with fun!

Ok gang, I've never been to a poultry swap. How does it work? do people actually swap critters (ie trade)? Or is it more like a flea market, where people bring stuff to sell and/or buy?

To update my listing (I am both Starchix and Kathy Gault), my need for bantams has changed for a need to pass my three -- apparently all cockerels, how's that for bad luck? -- bantams along to someone else. 1 partridge cochin, 1 gold-laced cochin, 1 mille fleur d'uccle (could still be a pullet, hasn't actually crowed yet). 12 weeks at day of the swap, and as cute as bugs. But they just won't work in my neighborhood, and as of now I have no place to house a separate flock of banties. Sigh.

I am still interested in some kind of nice, secure, portable coop and possibly 1-2 older pullets or laying hens.

My sister is sending along the cutest potholders and cup coasters!!
big_smile.png
Here's her images and descriptions... I'm gonna buy a pair or two before I bring them along to sell!

Quote:
It's both. I've only been to one (the spring swap), but there were pre-sales/trades (like those listed in WallTenters updated list) and spontaneous ones, plus a lot of buying and selling!
smile.png

If anybody makes feed sack totes, I have two feed sacks with pictures if you want me to bring them.

I can't get my sewing machine to work, can't stand to throw them away if anyone can get some use out of them.

Quote:
I would love them! I am making totes and plan on bringing several with me for sale. I have been selling them very successfully so far. I have several made from bird seed bags, chick and chicken feed bags, grain sacks, etc. I will post some photos of them as well.

Is anyone interested in the nesting boxes? If not, I probably won't bring them as they take up a ton of room in the car....

Price negotiable, and I am open to trades.....

Also may have some mille fleur/frizzled mille fleur (project) cochin hatching eggs available. Here are some of the chicks from the last hatch:
