Oregon Summer Poultry Swap, Redmond, June 18th

Hi Folks, new member to the forum here. I'm in Bend, and I'd LOVE to attend the swap. No chickies for me yet, but hopefully soon. I'm in need of, well, everything (including the chickens!), and I'm wondering whether bringing plant starts (veggies and flowers) and some of my hand-crafted goodies (candles, quilts, etc.) would make for some good trades? Also, will anyone there have chicken tractors/small coops to offer (photos would be great... and, will you deliver to N.E. Bend?) who might be willing to trade for the kinds of goodies I mentioned? Brand new to all this, so please, be gentle!

Looking forward to the swap, and to getting to know you all.

Jodi

Hi Jodi! I actually found BYC at about 11:00pm the night before the Canby Swap, showed up and came home with eight pullets. I already had chickens and wasn't looking for that many more but that's pretty much the way it goes. Chicken math.

We're coming from the Willamette Valley and won't be bringing anything to trade but I might be interested in buying homemade stuff like candles and quilts.

Yes Jodi those would be wonderful!!! I'm hoping someone will bring a tractor or small coop for sale. Unfortunately I think my dear hubby (fiance, but I call him hubby) and I will be too busy to build anything other than what we have to do already for the raffle. Hmmm... Maybe we could bring a hoop house... I'll talk to him

Thanks for joining us, I really look forward to meeting all you guys!!!

Ok folks.....So I set some eggs yesterday in my shiney new incubator and here is what I hope to hatch....
7 French Wheaten Marans
10 Salmon Faverolles
8 BBS Enlgish Import Orpingtons

These babies will hatch in plenty of time for the poultry swap....they should be nearly two weeks old by then. I know someone had asked me about the Wheaten Marans......this will be my first hatch with the marans so I will make an update after I candle everything the first time. I have had very high fertility on my Faverolles so far so I am hopeful that they will all or nearly all hatch. Let me know if you are interested in any of these babies.

I will have Black Swedish ducklings for sale. Exactly one month old on the day of the swap..

They are charmers and very handsome, but are not exhibition quality. They make good pets, or you could invite them to dinner.

This is still vague, but just so folks know -

HAVE
Chicken covers - the ones with holes under the wings and gathered bottom are biscuit warmers, the ones without are tea cozies. Here's a sample:

Also jams - not sure what kind (boysenberry and raspberry, probably, and other possibly)
Also fresh oregano, thyme, rosemary... on request. The basil won't be big enough by then.

WANT
not sure yet.

But I'm looking forward to the swap! Will it be really hot, do you think?

I am going to try to make it, it's looking like I will be free that weekend

I can bring:
Several juvenile Seramas
Cuckoo Marans chicks
Silkie chicks (mostly white)
Olive Eggers (pullets should be at point of lay by the swap)
BCM and Wheaton Marans chicks (I only have a couple of each, and they are too young to sex at this time)
Possibly a couple of LF Salmon Faverolle chicks

I can donate a Whiz Bang chicken plucker MANUAL for the raffle, and possibly an older incubator if I can find it.

I could bring cinnamon rolls for the potluck

Wanted:
Any type of flowering ground cover
Serama hatching eggs
I will update this list as I am sure it will get longer
