Does anyone know where in NW Oregon I can get some fertile goose or native duck hatching eggs? Or ringneck pheasant hatching eggs?

Somebody onece said a Silkie would sit on a bowling ball until it hatched. They may be dumb, but they are the best hatching machines around, hands down and I LOVE LOVE LOVE my 2 girls.... both of which are on nests right now....

wbruder17 I can not remember where I came across this tidbit of info but I believe the is someone in Winston, (a pinch south of Roseburg) the does game birds. You might google gamebird pheasant hatcheries Oregon. Our nearby feed stores have pheasant, quail and chukar in the spring. Let me know if that source is an option for you, we might be able to arrange an egg relay from Roseburg to Eugene or Corvallis. For waterfowl I understand there is a very good breeder in the Corvallis area. Hollerands, or something similar to that I think. I have seen them mentioned on BYC before.

I know this will go unanswered until monday cause everyone but me has a "weekend life", but I was wondering if any of you guys have noticed any signs that a hen may be thinking about going broody? I have a hen that growls at me like she wants to bite my face off when I open the door to the nest box. She will suit in there for hours, then snap out of it and go back out. But now she has become very vocal, but it's only real soft little clucks. And when she does it she looks like she it's looking for something. Any input? If she is, I hope I can find some eggs to put under her if she does go broody.

That certainly sounds broody to me. Is she laying? If not, try leaving a few eggs out and see if she decides to adopt them. When my girls brood, it comes on pretty quickly...but it's the same thing...aggressive in the nesting box, very growly, and then vocal with low clucks when out. Also, very puffed up and chases all the other chickens away. (I don't have a weekend life either)

We live out by Four Corners OHV, so north of Milican but south of Prineville. We live in an area called Juniper Acres...an off-grid community...all solar and cisterns.

I can offer you lots of fertile eggs, varying breeds...but all of them are fathered by Barred Rock roos. I have three roos and they are all Barred Rocks, except one took after his momma and is a rose comb.
