Oregon

Just getting around to posting here. Hi from Eugene, Oregon. Actually we're outside the city limits (Santa Clara) so we can have more than the 2 chicken limit in the city of Eugene. Yay!

I just posted in the introductions. I am in Surprise Valley in Douglas County Oregon. Between Myrtle Creek and Canyonville, you figure out which city, lol.
We have no chickens and no coop just yet but would really like to have some this year if I can find work soon. If not, we will have to move.

We have had our hens since last Easter. We had 3 but one disappeared last week, and just have two. Neighbors have not seen the missing hen, NO evidence of a predator. She was very friendly so could have followed someone walking down the street if she escaped the backyard. My husband is a bit surprised that the chickens have become "pets" but it all works!

Hello Oregonians,

I just recently joined BYC and just found this thread yesterday. I live on five acres between Bend and Oregon Have three horses (one of them minature), six dogs (3 Great Danes, 3 Scottish Terriers. six cats and 9 chickens. Three are roosters but currently everyone is living in harmony in the same house and yard.

Have Delaware eggs and Rhode Island eggs and chicks ordered also on the way. Just sent out for 20 Turkey poults today but they won't get here until July.

It has been unusually warm here this winter. One bitter cold spell but since then just a little frost at night and 50-60s during the day. Pastures are greening up so feels like spring.

It will be very nice to have Oregon Chicken People to meet and share ideas and stories.
