The heart wants what the heart wants. I completely understand, seen it many times with the kids down here.

Something has been after our ducks at night. We aren't sure how whatever it is is getting in. We lost two of the babies already, and are scrambling to solve the problem. Poor little duckies.![]()

Oh Im so sorry! What do they look like when you find them? The other week some cats got 4 of my chickens. I know it was cats because the neck was chewed on. The cats got 3 bantams, 2 bantam roosters 1 bantam hen, the hen was my hen I showed at fair. Also the cats got a LF rooster, Leghorn.
I'm happy to report I have not been the one to find them, but Nelson says the necks have been removed (with the heads) clear down at the shoulders. The heads are gone, the bodies are still there. We have put them in a super security pen for the night(s) until we get a really solid duck habitat built.
Hm, maybe a racoon, they will take the necks.
I know someone who has had chickens for more then a year, I think almost 2, and she just recently had a bird die! That's exactly what I'm thinking. I gather a big rat might eat the heads ...
How gruesome is this? The stuff we have to know to keep our gorgeous birds
My friend had 5 chickens killed with their head and necks removed. It turned out to be an Owl.
