Gorgeous bird bantychickenluv, none of my boys are that pretty. Hehe, guess I owe my americauna boy for that.
Suzierd, what varieties you got? I haven't done much with my silkies. Got my first rooster this year so my eggs aren't fertilized,( at least in my silkie pen ) but one of my silkie girls I get an egg from every few weeks. The rest the rest the time she's broody. Boy she can be a mean little booger when it comes to her nest.![]()
The parents to these chicks were eggs shipped from top breeders, I think there going to be very nice. I have blue and possibly black I'm a little confused on knowing for sure if its a dark blue or a black. I've read a black chick is black with a little gray and a blue is black with a little yellow and I got both in the 13 chicks I hatched out. I also got 5 paints. A couple where a pretty light gray or blue but looks like they are getting darker with the juvenile feathers coming in. Let me know if you would like another Roo I'm sure I'll have plenty.
I had three hens that shared hatching and are raising the outside peeps and one of them gets puffed up and very protective the other two are pretty calm. Of course if I pick one up and it starts yelling that gets the protective hen and the Roo all worried.
