I am 60% sure we have a drake and I thought about fertilizing eggs but I would need a little more room for that. We got ours from Wilco. Went in for 2, but they had only 1 left and my wife couldnt live it to be lonely. Unfortunately if we have a drake, we will have one that will need to 'Fly the coop'.

It's such a hard thing with the boys! I've had a bad run of female chicks being boys this spring.
I looked up and male ducks and female chickens don't mix, since the male duck will try to mate with the hens, otherwise I might be interested. :p

I've been hatching back to back this spring. Building stock and working on a wyandotte project. These are my Silver laced and Lavender split with silver laced.

I sold 5 chicks and now have 4 (that I'm keeping) that will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. Little Vera the EE was SOLID black at a day old is now feathering out dark bark brown and black partridge along the back and wings, while the chest is coming in sort of a gold . Has anyone ever had a solid black EE chick? What did they end up looking like? I know it looks like she had some white under belly fluff but, she did not have this the first 1.5 weeks. The rest of the crew is a BCM, Welsummer and Barnevelder.
