I know this is WAY off topic, but does anyone in the general Salem area have any kittens? We have been cat-less for a few months now and the mice are getting bad. I would really like 2 kittens, they would live in our hay/feed shed under the same conditions as our old cats. 1 was 14 years old and the other was 17 years old when they died, so they had long happy lives! We have never been without a cat before!
This is true of most animals. A few year back we got mother and daughter Puli's as rescues. Mom was so sweet to me but such a b**** to the other dogs, I think we has six dogs at the time...She would literally get every dog toy she could find and pile them up in her crate climb on top of the pile and and growl. that I couldn't wait to place her and she wasn't gone for 24 hours before her daughter, the most submissive cowing puppy I have even had come here turned into Miss Bossypants...In fact, she proved so hard to place that after being sent back from three placement we ended up keeping her.Once your current top hen is gone, another will take its place and that one will need to know that you're at the top of the pyramid as well. Who knows, getting rid of the pecky girl could cause your favorite hen to be top dog and turn her into a pill.
Gotta love the Ausie Spots! I love having a couple of bantam ducks around usually, but where I live now they keep limiting what I can have.
I currently have judt 7 chickens and she said no more! I think I may faint from this lack of Chicken Math!
