Oregon

Such cuteness! What is that? Emu? Osterich? I want one!
Emu. About 4 months old. They need at least 2 acres to be truly happy as a breeding pair. Alone, they require one acre minimum and 4 foot fencing.

They are absolutely the most affectionate birds you will ever meet.

I know her Husband and he will say NO too

I know this is WAY off topic, but does anyone in the general Salem area have any kittens? We have been cat-less for a few months now and the mice are getting bad. I would really like 2 kittens, they would live in our hay/feed shed under the same conditions as our old cats. 1 was 14 years old and the other was 17 years old when they died, so they had long happy lives! We have never been without a cat before!

Try Friends of Felines in Salem Oregon. It's on liberty and Owens. they have a thrift shop there too.

Once your current top hen is gone, another will take its place and that one will need to know that you're at the top of the pyramid as well. Who knows, getting rid of the pecky girl could cause your favorite hen to be top dog and turn her into a pill.
This is true of most animals. A few year back we got mother and daughter Puli's as rescues. Mom was so sweet to me but such a b**** to the other dogs, I think we has six dogs at the time...She would literally get every dog toy she could find and pile them up in her crate climb on top of the pile and and growl. that I couldn't wait to place her and she wasn't gone for 24 hours before her daughter, the most submissive cowing puppy I have even had come here turned into Miss Bossypants...In fact, she proved so hard to place that after being sent back from three placement we ended up keeping her.

BTW Phoebe is my Avatar here on BYC . She's a pretty girl but after six years she still doesn't share her toys or allow any other dogs to get up on our bed.

Hi all,
I live in WA, but I am an Oregon gal. I Lived most of my adult life in Portland, but an from Rogue River, OR. Home of the Rogue River Rooster Crow. Unfortunately, we aren't going like we had hoped, so I am pining for home. I miss it so much I bought new Tevas, and I am going to find a river.

Does anyone live in Douglas County? That's my favorite county, and I want to hear all about Shad fishing and Wildlife Safari. And drinking wine.

Hi Chubby chicken, I live in Roseburg we use to live in Rogue River and go to the Rooster Crow it was really funny listing to people trying to crow like a rooster. My daughter went shad fishing the other day but she didn't catch anything. And we love wildlife safari. Hope you make it home.

My new pets. I never intended to have ducks, but these stay small and since they were raised in a brooder, they are VERY tame and follow me around like little puppies! Australian Spotted Ducks.

Gotta love the Ausie Spots! I love having a couple of bantam ducks around usually, but where I live now they keep limiting what I can have.

I currently have judt 7 chickens and she said no more! I think I may faint from this lack of Chicken Math!
