I have fertile eggs (currently all crosses, no pure breeds). I would be interested in providing eggs for people who want to incubate them. My only incubator is running around the yard with a bunch of chicks, so I can't hatch my own just yet - a swap wouldn't do me any good.
Guess who's got an incubator on her Christmas wish list?
my incubator's run around too. but always have one setting, usually 4!
I posted this flock on Craig's list this morning, but thought I'd put it here, too. Just in case anyone is looking for a small flock. I've gone overboard here in Portland and need to bring my flock down to "city" size and get my permit. Hope no vector control people are reading this!
I have 3 laying hens and one rooster who need a new home.
One Silver Laced Wyandotte Hen
One Auracana Hen
One White Leghorn Hen
One Auracana (Easter Egger) Rooster
So, if you are interested in a variety of egg colors, this is the group for you!
Green, brown and white eggs!
I'll drive part way if you live out of town, we can make arrangements!
EGG SWAP NEXT WEEK?
I will offer up 6 or more for the same number of a different breed. Wellsummer and wellie crossed with black australorp or b.s.link. Any takers?
does anyone know why a hen would wander around *inside* a coop loudly clucking/chattering/multiple cluckings in a row? My bantam partridge leghorn has been doing it off and on sometimes mornings sometimes evenings.
We've looked around and there doesn't seem to be any predators or anything hanging about...only thing is the wyandotte is in the nest looking like she's about to lay. Doesn't sound too peaceful with the leghorn pacing about.
Any insights?
Ps: I'm an illegal Salem hen holder.
ps2: There is a possibility that we might extend an open offer for a trade: Our leghorn hen for a quieter gal. It might be possible the leghorn might do well free range style on land.
