Oregon

I sold my original 2 easter eggers (one of them is my favorite hen Mavis) and 2 wyandottes since I have my silkies sitting on eggs for some jersey giants. The girls just looked at me as I put them in a crate to their new home. Kind of like what the heck Mom where is this guy taking us?? Then I took my 12 year old newfie for a walk, i have known for some time he is getting old and has the signs of a heart condition that effects newfies in their old age. he started coughing and panting a making a kind of whinny cry, Just kind of an emotional day.

Is he on cardiac meds??

Thanks. I'm really sick about it right now. These birds are not replaceable...extremely rare varieties of Faverolles...

The shipper has already started an inquiry on her end, trying to find out what might've happened...
Uggggg..I didn't need to see this. I am about to ship one of mine to WI. I'm also getting some adult birds shipped to me. I haven't done it before and it is freaking me out.

That's a cop out. Don't take that crappy answer. MAKE them do something!! Out of curiosity, which vet do you use?
Actually I think they were trying to tell me in no uncertain terms that he is old for his breed and the tests and fixes for his type of condition are only going to give him a little time. He doesn't see well anymore and has arthritis. They have been great vets with my other dogs also. (My shih-tzu lived till16 years old and had terrible bladder stones and they found the answer in a diet after the other vet had done 5 bladder stone surgeries and was on 5 different foods)So we will see what they suggest. I am very happy with the care he has gotten and the vet he saw last he had never seen before. For him to have lived this long is a testament to the wonderful care he has gotten. I will keep you updated on what they say Monday.

Quote: Yes, it is very old for a Newfie, it's awesome that he's been around so long for you, and yes, it will only buy him a little time, but if a pill or two a day keeps him comfortable longer, then I'd say it's worth a shot. I wouldn't probably do an echo, and all of that stuff, but if he's coughing, Lasix could work wonders for him.
