Organic Apple Cider Vinegar

it seems supermarket vinegar has been pasteurized to take all the goodness out of it.
You can buy Active Cider Vinegar in many grocery stores.
It's not really the magic tonic that is often touted tho.

thx aart,
the reason I was looking into it is that I have a struggling chick and I was ready to accept it was suffering from "failing-to-thrive" symptom. I have read lots of different things to try from VetRX, to cider vinegar to tumeric and egg yolk.
I was going to get some vinegar for it tomorrow but in the meantime I have given it something that has helped me recently with a deficiency, some B1 vitamin.
Surprisingly it has already made improvements and it is eating again.
But I should point out I did try some tumeric and I've increased temps and reduced humidity to dry the brooder more but I feel the B1 must have had the biggest effect.
The chick was making clicking noises when breathing and this has improved within hours - still not out the woods yet but at least it is eating a bit.

after doing some research into vitamin B1 it seems it is a very important vitamin for chicks and a deficiency will cause

Again not something I have ever seen mentioned in order to help an ailing chick.

I can't say for sure if it has been what has made a difference but I will be reaching for vitamin B1 in future if I ever have a chick that seems like it has a lack of energy, not eating and generally sleeping a lot as those are all the symptoms of a vitamin B1 deficiency.

I fed the chick some more vitamin this morning and it has made a full recovery. Is running around again, eating, drinking and so much happier than huddled in a corner unable to walk. Not going to bother with the cider vinegar anymore.

Ps: I have just used my own supplements of B1 which comes in a capsule so it's easy to sprinkle a bit of it in their drinking water.

No reaction? I mean it really works.

What reaction are you looking for?
It's quite common to see folks recommend B-Complex, Poultry Nutri-Drench, etc. to be given to chicks that are not doing well. These all contain B1 (Thiamine) plus other vitamins that may be helpful in giving a weak chick an extra boost.
