Orginally thought these 2 were the same...what do you think?

I'm laughing with you, not at you. When I first saw the pic, Ithought the same thing. Then I looked a little closer and realized it didn't have a long tail and realized it was a brown leghorn hen.

Allright holy COW! She has some big wattles and and comb on her!! Allright let me ask you something~ How old was she when you bought her, and were they that big then?? Haha It just amuses me because so many people judge Hen from Roo based on those combs and wattles. And looking at her my first thought is that's a rooster!! I picked up on that because I was trying to figure out what my BO's were. Now you just made me confuse myself again~ Haha Is it Roo is it Hen now I'm back on the fence with my boys!

I can't help you with the breeds though~ The second definately looks different. It's much shorter and it looks like the feathers are a little more thick and it's got some different colors on it! Hope you find out!

I've decided not to guess roo/hen anymore on breeds that I don't or haven't owned. Someone always comes on and corrects me when I say it's a pullet with a slightly bigger/redder comb than average for the age. B/c my sexlinks and Delaware pullets all had biger than average and redder combs at an earlier age than most pullets people post on here.

Maybe mine were weird, but someone w/ more experience seems to always come on and say, no, definite roo, then I feel bad for getting the OP's hopes up! LOL

I have no idea about the first but the 2nd looks just like my EE hen, Violet, who lays sky blue eggs. She's the sweetest of the bunch as well. She wasn't laying at that age yet - think it was closer to 20 - 22 weeks if I remember correctly. Good luck!

I've had several people who come over to my house and point at all my 'roosters' - nope, leghorn hens. They don't believe me when I guarantee they are hens and are laying eggs every day!

They have bigger combs than my real rooster.

(Oh and both the birds in my pic are hens, guaranteed.
