Oriental Gamefowl Thread!

Here is my stag!! He actually is a Harris x Viper. Six months old. Again, trying to learn, what's good and what's bad?

Carr is a fine gentleman with a world of fowl knowledge to go along with a true understating and appreciation for his breed of choice. IMO having those genes could only improve any Assil breeding program. Good stuff and good luck with them................

Carr is a true southern gentleman. I am fortunate to have a bird of his myself. He is also quite gracious enough to talk you through anything you may ever wish to know about asils. If you have any questions at all about his fowl, I would call him and ask him. This forum may not be the place to put questions out there so to speak. If you want to learn, go back to the source.

i don't know why carr chose to help some of us cubalaya breeders but he must have seen something that the breed as a whole was lacking and saw that the asil would fix it. what color legs does yours have gallo?

White legs. I would say he has a longer body, lower tail, more spread tail, and longer tail than what many asils do. Still has a muscular body, heavy brow ridges, no wattles, short stout beak, red red lobes, thick shanks, etc. Has a great temperament as well. True oriental character i guess you might say.

Honestly the white legs are a bonus. Even if they had yellow legs all the F1 would be white legged anyway. The nice thing about this line is the overall size and confirmation. Much larger in size than many small asils, with longer legs and neck while retaining the heavy heads, muscling, and shanks. I love the look of the shorter legged heavier bodied asils, bu that sort will be of little use in this sort of project. These have a nice blend of grace and power. I would use this line as an outcrossing even if they had purple legs and pink feathers. :)
