here's one of my Pullets. She likes the camera.

There are a lot of folks who keep both with a great deal of success. Just something to think about if you ever want to own some. Best of luck to you and yours in the new year!

Tuzo Stag

Thank you for giving me some hope...lol I have lots of room (secluded farm with no neighbors) It would just be a matter of management. I've been looking for about three years but have been disturbed by the attitudes of some self appointed 'experts'...one seems to have almost ruined this thread by himself...OK...will say no more about that..Sorry.

Pretty stag Jen. Good luck with him.

Thanks Paulo and Hellbender. I bought him from a friend when he was just 6 weeks old because his color looked intriguing. Not sure what I will do with him since I have no Thai hens. May put one of my Brazilian hens with him just to see what I get. At any rate I enjoy looking at him lol.

No one is ever an "expert" at raising fowl.. some are just more experienced than others. As soon as you stop learning and think you know all is when your breeding and raising of fowl takes a turn for the worse. Yes raising gamefowl of any sort is more challenging than barnyard breeds, but with a little research and chatting with the experienced breeders, one can quickly learn the basics and begin their adventure :). Like I have said before, research, research, research.. then prepare the housing, then check into finding stock from a reputable breeder. Being more challenging to raise just means they are that much more rewarding seeing them succeed. Good luck and Happy Holidays to all no matter what they raise...

Good post. Most online experts are really not experts....not to many real experts post on BYC. but there are some that think they are. I have been playing with birds for over 50 years and I'm always learning something.
