Great talking with you and nice win over the other bald guy.........haha.....I let him know how disappointed I was in him not winning that Asil class.

I will see Suzann in a couple weeks at a show and will relay your offer.

Walt,
In the history of the APA has there ever been a standardized breed that was recognized with no particular color pattern? I'm thinking not but was asked the question.

Also, to get a new color variety recognized of an existing breed how many have to be shown over what period? Also, is there still a qualifying meet? If so, how many have to be at that meet?

Tell Suzann I have one extra male I could send her this winter or if she would like I can wait until next hatching season and see what I get: if she is interested. All it will cost her is the box and shipping: the bird is a gift from me.

Shamo's are not recognized in white, that is a carryover from the Aseel on the preceding page.

Walt

A white Shamo pullet is documented in the new yearbook as receiving ten points as champion AOSB. It has nothing to do with white Aseels. A black Aseel hen is very similar. Tom

Sounds like a mistake to me on the part of a Show Secretary.
Black Asil are only recognized in the ABA in the Bantam form, but not as Standard fowl.

White Shamo's are not recognized by the APA. I was saying that if you look at the sequence of how the colors are listed in the SOP, the colors of the Aseel move to the opposing page making it look as if the color white belongs to the Shamo's. It does not. As Saladin says.......black Asils are not recognized by the APA either. Not sure why though and they could be recognized easily as they are recognized by the ABA.

If a white Shamo is shown as winning, it is a recording error...and possibly a judging error.

Not that I know of. We have had folks try that though.

You only need 25 shown if the breed exists and you only want to add a variety. There would be a qualifying meet unless the variety is already accepted by the ABA.
What do you have in mind?

I will pass that info on to Suzann.

EDIT: Just noticed that you said Newsletter Tom.....sorry! Thought you said Standard...thus the Aseel reference.

Was actually thinking of a couple of things: Silver Wheaten Cubalaya female, and Black Asil, Blue Asil
How much would it cost me to make the application? Would you possibly help me do it if I can get the breeders together? Also, how many people have to be included as exhibitors of those 25 birds?
