I'm betting noone or someone took very few. You know people, not everyone got to go, and somehow, it seems that it just wasn't important enough to get photos

I'm just sayin' - Most of these big shows, the most people come back with are a couple photos of call ducks, Toulouse geese, and maybe a random OEGB.

Not that I know of. We have had folks try that though.

You only need 25 shown if the breed exists and you only want to add a variety. There would be a qualifying meet unless the variety is already accepted by the ABA.
What do you have in mind?

I will pass that info on to Suzann.

Was actually thinking of a couple of things: Silver Wheaten Cubalaya female, and Black Asil, Blue Asil
How much would it cost me to make the application? Would you possibly help me do it if I can get the breeders together? Also, how many people have to be included as exhibitors of those 25 birds?

I am guessing that the Silver Wheaten Cubalaya is not recognized by the ABA...don't have the ABA Standard handy here. That one would take 5 breeders to sign a document saying that they have raised them for 5 years and they breed 50% true. It would require a qualifying meet with at least 50 birds by 5 exhibitors with an equal number of C,H,K and P. (see page #5 of the SOP). The fee is $500.00 It would also take certificates from shows or judges saying that two or more C,H,K and P have been shown in shows the proceeding two years and have been judged by an APA judge and are worthy of acceptance. The judge(s) will be asked for their opinion regarding the quality of those birds.

The black Asil would only take a fee of $300.00 and the 5 affidavits. I can sign one of those, as I have raised them for several years.

I can help you with this if you do the groundwork.

I saw many people taking pics of the Orientals, but I have no idea where they may be found. I didn't take any.....didn't have time.

Do these have to be from multiple breeders? The judge(s) will be asked for their opinion regarding the quality of those birds.

I'm already working on it. You have been a great help. No the Silver Wheaten Cubalaya is not in the ABA; so your information greatly helped. It has however, been with us since the beginning of the Cubalaya breed (1939). I do have the historic documentation for it. This one may take me longer than the Black Asil, but I'd really like to see them both accepted at some point. I will see what I come up with. Just trying to get my ducks in a row.... or see if I even have any ducks. lol.

In the two preceding years...I take that to mean 16 specimens. I left off the two in my post. Bad memory......
Cannot be by the same exhibitor.

Ok, 16: sounds very reasonable to me. Thanks again. No requirement on the number of exhibitors in those 2 years though? I understand the 5 at the qualifying meet and each having kept the breed for 5 years...... that is the hard part.

Black Asil sound cool

Gonna show Greys and keep trying to win over some new people until theres a wide enough interest.
Gonna be a looong time though, but would like to see them recognized.
I just saw some amazing spangled Asil, they were what I believe to be flawless

White Shamo's are not recognized by the APA.

EDIT: Just noticed that you said Newsletter Tom.....sorry! Thought you said Standard...thus the Aseel reference.

As Saladin says.......black Asils are not recognized by the APA either. Not sure why though and they could be recognized easily as they are recognized by the ABA.

If a white Shamo is shown as winning, it is a recording error...and possibly a judging error.
