Asil Bantams:

Not recognized by the APA only the ABA. As stated it is an 'inactive' breed.

Me and Dr Parkhurst showed them at Crossroads. I won.

The only problem with the ABA description is the size; though large for a bantam breed if you breed the female as small as required then she can't lay.
Mine generally run 2 lbs at maturity when they are only suppose to be 1 3/4 lbs.
Mine have no bantamizing gene in them. I have been breeding smallest to smallest for 6 years to get where I'm at with them.
In breeding them I have paid absolutely no attention to color.

If you want the Bantam Standard description then you need to write Karen Unrath and send her some cash and she'll send you a copy.

Thanks for the information. What does it mean, "inactive breed"? Who is karen Unrath and how do I contact her. Guy

An inactive breed is a breed that has been recognized, but its not being shown, or there are very few being shown.
So due to cost the ABA does not include some breeds and patterns to be recognized and are listed as inactive breeds.
Inactive breeds may be shown.
Some inactive bantam breeds are:
Bearded appenzeller,
Spitzhauben,
Aseel,
Barnvelder,
Brabanter,
Breda,
Catalana,
Fayoumi,
Java, and welsummer bantams

Wondering what type of silver?
I don't recall it being a duckwing. Just looked at the standard earlier this morning
Will have to give it a second loom when I get home

For those of you who remember him, Mark Giles, who used to wright "The Traveler" columns for The Gamecock magazine, was raided by the ara police and all his cocks were confiscated. Mark is a good friend and breeder of orientals. He lives in the UK. Nobody is safe...........Pop
