How does everyone take care of leg/scale mites? Is vaseline still the best or is there something else now?

At the feed store they sell Leg Mite spray. If not, you can spray mite using water+Malathion. Then to keep the scale, apply some grease.

burnt motor oil. rub into legs and paint roosts. do this once a year and you will never see any

My avian vet once recommended WD-40. For both leg mites and feather mites/lice.

I've also heard of 1/3 kerosene 2/3 linseed oil mixtures being used. Or olive oil with permethrin dust added.

poultry dust works well on feather mites and lice. also wood ash for dusting themselves
