Ornamental Layer Collection from McMurray Hatchery

I don't know why having a rooster would keep you from refrigerating your eggs...? It won't mean anything about your eggs, they won't start to develop into chicks unless they sit at high temperatures for a few days. So as long as you collect your eggs daily you won't have to worry about cracking into an egg and finding a chick.

Hi Rareroo,

Thanks so much for your help. The striped ones only have four toes. Someone said that they could be Welsummers because of the V on their heads and the eyeliner. Can you point out the one that you think is a roo for me? I'm still confused about which one it might be. There is one chick with a definite yellow spot on her head that has no feathered feet. Is that the one that you meant? Could she be a Barred Rock? Thanks so much for your help.

I spotted Wellies, BO, EE, molted hudan, black cochins, blue cochins (1 is a roo), a barred rock or dominique depending on if it has a single or rose comb, and possibly a partridge cochin. Also a brahma or two in there.

Yes, this chick is the one everyone is saying rooster on. It's the red, pronounced comb and his slower feathering that makes me think so. Some people said it was blue, but it looks black to me.

Your all white chick is a Polish, not a Sultan. Sultans have feathered legs.

ETA: the one lying down in the third picture (second set of pics) is a Partridge Cochin.

Thank you so much, Juliechick, for helping me figure out which one is which, and thank you also to M To The Maxx and aussieheelr! I'm so delighted to know what they are. That one that everyone thinks is a roo has thicker legs than the others and seems much more bold and bossy than the others. He always runs up to me and looks me straight in the eyes with one of his eyes. He's going to be a lot of fun.

Sherrydeanne, thanks so much for that info. That is so interesting because some definitely have green feet and a couple have yellow feet. Is there any significant difference between the EE's and the Wellies? They are the one breed that seems the least friendly and the most willing to escape and fly away.

You can see their legs in a few of these pictures.

As long as you guys are being so helpful, can you tell me which one this one is? This one has similar markings as the EE's and Wellies, but she is twice as big.

And this one?

Thanks again so much.
