Orphaned Opossum

I have used Levamasol, or a name like that. I wouldn't worm him until he is bigger, though, like 350 grams. I'm not an expert so maybe somebody else will chime in.

Just wanted to post an update on Schnibber. He is the size of a young cat now. And one of the nicest housepets we have had. He has a two story ferret cage to sleep in and I lock him in when I'm away. When he wants to go to sleep he gets into the cage himself and closes the door behind himself! When we are in the house in the evening he is out. He uses the cat's litterbox. And he is a lot of fun to have around.
He knows his name and is very smart. I read recently that they are smarter than dogs and are right up there with pigs. He likes to aggravate the house cats. If they are sleeping in their baskets he crawls in and chases them out.

He is very clean and bathes himself like the cats do.
Anyway, thanks for your help in raising him.

My Petunia is 3 years old. Pretty much treated her like a puppy and she is thriving. She does use a litter box and she doesn't hang by the tail, she hates that, so we don't do it.

Doesn't sound the the OP needs to worry about it now, but anyone who finds a baby possom should be very cautious!

I can't believe these could be pets. Why would you want one having chickens? I just see the future and it doesn't look bright! Do they kill chickens or just steal eggs? Not sure, that's why i ask. If just eggs than i can see better now.

Don't they carry disease? Rabies? They look so nasty when they hiss. Can you tame them if raised from babies? I see they can be litter trained.

Glad you have a heart and saved it! I would have done the flip side~

Awww! I'm glad that baby is doing so good! It sounds like people have who do raise them have a lot of success with keeping them pets
